Hi chaps

Im after advice on where to get door knobs that are Billiard balls / American Pool call it what you will lol. Also wonder if making them or getting them made from actual balls is an option. Im hoping to use these through my whole house for internal doors only

Any help would be hugely appreciated as this has been a nightmare!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you're probably going to need something custom.

Something like this might be a good starting point.

What size knob were you thinking? I'd think that if you could get a plain knob the same/similar diameter where the ball is demountable drilling a snooker ball would be trivial with the right tools (may seem insane but a bowling ball supplier might be the best bet to find that out since you get your bowling ball drilled to suit your hand - when you own one like Fred Flintstone that is)

The car modding boys seem to have it cracked though.... (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-65803.html)

Thats a cracking idea ive priced up 2 and a quarter inch pool balls and was thinking of drilling and gluing just unsure if it would be durable enough

Don't think there's any danger of the ball part not being durable and if you use the "right" glue there's no reason that shouldn't last a lifetime too....

I have to admit that about 18 years ago, I did make a rather forceful break on a pool table (in south Manchester actually) and managed to shatter the cue ball into 3 major pieces. Nobody had seen it happen before  (didn't crack the tip of the cue either) but I suspect the ball was cracked before I broke it properly.

There used to be a high street store called "Knobs and Knockers" they sold doorknobs and doorknockers (always made me laugh at the time)

I see they're still active as a concession type arrangement on DIYTools.co.uk (http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/Knobs%20&%20Knockers%20-%20Complete%20Listing.asp)
