I just got a second chance offer from a eBay seller on a Fatboy I didn't win.

The message from the seller:

Hello past bidder. It turns out that the winning bidder did not want the item when he received it. He brought our attentions to note that when you put a razor in the shaver, it is slightly crooked. We thought that we would let the other bidders know that it is again available, just in case you know how to fix the spring that is a little off or if you just want it for a collection. Let us know. If you do not want it, I will pass the offer on to the other bidders. Have a lovely day! Sincerely, xxxxxxx, xxxxxx.

So the Fatboy is back on eBay with Buy it Now and the following description:

You are bidding on this nice vintage Gillette Fatboy adjustable safety razor. These razors give a great shave. This one belonged to a great uncle of mine. It is nickel color, and I don't see any place where it has corroded through. The numbers are still black, and it appears to be in good working condition. The date code is H 4. Overall length is 3 1/2 in.

I guess I am not allowed to post the link to the auction before it has ended, but just wanted to warn you about this as the new description doesn't mention the true state of the razor.

Thought this was a thread about a chubby burglar........

Seriously, thanks for posting the heads up. Seems the seller might be a tad ethically challenged.

Is there much of anything that isn't 'CROOKED' on e-pay. Buyer Beware!!!!

My politically correct way of belittling a seller with loose morals.

Ha! It isn't even a fatboy. There are no H coded fatboys, only slims.

I see that all the time on the bay, sellers listing everything adjustable as a Fatboy.

+1! I've seen superspeeds labeled as Gillette Adjustables. And it seems like no one on ebay knows how to take a proper photograph!

Thanks for the heads up.

+1. Reading the title, I was concerned that maybe you were buying a crooked Harley Fatboy, but such is not the case. :tongue_sm

It puts me on tilt when people use "razor" when they should use "razor blade". What is the item number?

Spot on!! This one is not a Fatboy and I just discovered it myself by looking more closely on the picture. :blushing:

You don't have to even look closely at that one to realise it's a slim not a fatboy, the picture is pretty large and clear even for the people that don't know the date codes. :bored:

If the safety bar is just a tad out of alignment, this is pretty easy to fix!

isn't it against "pirate" bay policy to contact anyone other than the winning bidder?

Or an obese person with one leg shorter than the other....

Not that I know of. In addition, there's a "second chance" offer right on the My eBay page when you're selling, allowing you to contact the next bidder in line if your winner falls through:

+1 I remember sending a seller a message about something that was described as "Might be a 'Fatboy'", letting them know it was a slim, and a fine razor. The seller replied back saying thanks, but didn't update their auction page. Just bothers me.

How?

Everyone should send the seller a message:

What you have listed is not a fatboy, it's a slim, and from my understanding, it is damaged. Your auction description should be more forthcoming of the condition of your item.
