After reading a few posts online here, I thought I'd try making my own silvertip badger brush. What do you think of my first attempt?

I used the following:
- A *very* nice silvertip badger brush top from Tony at The Golden Nib ($22)
- 7/8" socket ($4)
- 1" stainless ring ($.50)
- Some marine epoxy ($4)

Very nice. :thumbup1: I'm curious, though; With such a short, heavy handle, do you find it difficult to keep the bristles under water when you soak the brush? I had that problem with a small metal-handled brush. It kept wanting to fall in the water and flip handle-down. But then, it only had an 18mm knot to balance it out.

..you have to use a deeper container, so the brush can sink completely:biggrin:

Excellent Job! Looks very nice. You could make MONSTER lather if you put that in an impact wrench and soap up in a metal bowl!!

I have two lower-end boar hair brushes that I've used for a year or so. I used my new badger hair brush today and there's a *world* of difference.
Oh... and the impact wrench is a good idea. I bet that would be some serious exfoliation. :)

I generally prefer a 13/16" brush handle.
