Gentlemen,
The razor blade expedition continues.
For years I have used Merkurs and like them. With no intention to give them up, recently I embarked on a search to find other blades I might like. In an earlier post, I mentioned some that I did like and some that were a bust.
Today I tried the Gillette 7 'Clock Permasharp Stainless (green box) in my Edwin Jagger Barley and came away beaming as if I had just won the Pulitzer Prize. The blade is a perfect match for my face and beard — and the razor.
Although no razor blade expert, I find this blade of the highest quality. It is sharp, smooth and, I might add, exceptionally forgiving. Not that I ever wield a razor like a battle ax.
As a rule, I change blades and, therefore, razors every three shaves. Ordinarily perhaps I can shoot for four or five shaves, or more, but I prefer to stop at three with all blades in order to assure a reliably good shave every time.
You never know when Brad Pitt can't make the role and Hollywood comes calling: I'm always ready with a smooth shave.
In the coming days I will try the blade in my other razors, and I know I will have good results. Why? Because sometimes a new brand of a blade feels just right from the first moment it touches the face. This one did. I could not be more pleased with the Gillette 7 O'Clock Permasharp Stainless.
Still to explore are Crystal, Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (yellow box), Wilkinson Sword (UK), Super Iridium, and Feather. I am leaving the Feather for last, because I have a feeling it will be my great personal find.
Thanks for reading, and may good fortune swim in your lane.
