That Gillette factory in St Petersburg makes some of my favorite blades to date, Gillette Yellows and Super Iridiums. I know they also make home branded blades under the Sputnik label but I'm hoping by association they might be equally as good. Anybody tried them or know how to get hold of them?

www...............com has them, but I think they are vendor-non-grata here.
Edit: ^yup. lol.

I faintly remember seeing a review or two of them. IIRC they were OK but difficult to find.

Somehow I have a 5 pack of them.... couldn't tell you where I got them.

I'll try one out tonight and let you know what I think.

That would be great, I'm hoping my theory might be correct but they could be a complete pile of trabant.

I've tried one or two of the Sputniks, I loved the graphic on the box, and its name. Its a good blade, not a great blade, not nearly as smooth as the Yellows, nor do they out class the Crystals or the Red Personnas. But you can't beat the packaging. Antdad, PM me and I'll put one in the mail for you.

Now, I haven't tried too many different blades, enough to know that Feathers are so far my favorite, Derby's and Astra's are fine blades, but I prefer a little sharper. Merkur's and some unbranded Israeli blade I don't like.

I just had this shave:

I gotta tell ya, I'm gonna have to compare this side by side with a feather in the future. No burn, no nick, BBS with 3 passes... 1 WTG, 1 XTG, 1 ATG.

That's very interesting, give them a proper run and post a review.

Thank you for doing that.

I have some waiting to be tried. I've tried all my blades except Astras and Sputniks. Well... that's not true. I have a pack with about 15 singles of many different types that were a freebie from a vendor. I've only used a few of those. I don't count them because, in general, one blade isn't really enough to tell if a blade will work for you.
