As it turns out, I'm officially "taking the plunge" as some might put it. We've been engaged for a few months, but I felt it was time to share this as "My score" Anna and I, Jason, are engaged to be married this August. After seven years we finally decided it was time.
47758

I'm still paying on this. She's worth it though. So expect to see some razors on the BST.

Nice score on the Single Ring bythbook. I have one from that period, early '05? Mine's a bit ugly, but shaves gently.

Yeah, it smells great. I whipped up some lather with each of them and I have to say my favorite so far is Vanilla Sandalwood, then Barbershop, then Rosemary Mint. The Vanilla Sandalwood... my goodness.

I went riding around today in search of a dip warmer to use as a scuttle but instead found this Martini glass set at my local World Market for a simple four dollars. It might be a little smaller but it looks nice and at the price is worth a shot. Worse comes of it I have a nice chilled martini glass. I will upload a photo later when I get home, but is a stemless martini style glass that nestles into a larger bowl. Pretty simple but should work well.
Here is the image. The weight of the glass keeps it in position even with the bowl completely filled. Glass is a little thin so the heat retention is not as good as a pottery one, but I really like the look.

100 Derby blades and a tube of their cream - Lavender is what arrived

300 mL bottle of Spanish Floid should be on the way

Having my Gillette sent down too (not really an acquisition but something new in the lineup)

Congrats to JimBow (on the 1st anniversary) and EchoPlexi (on your engagement and setting a date) - my wife and I just celebrated two years

No pics, but I scored a set of nostalgic scents from Rasage Poulin.

J.M. Fraser Mosswood shave soap
Booster Mosswood AS

The soap is OK (not the best glide I've ever had), and the AS is fine (does indeed moisturize).

Also got some 4711 cologne.

Now this is nostalgic for me. My mom used to use 4711 to make eau de linge (linen water - dilute a cologne with water and decant it to a spray bottle). So all of my sheets and blankets smelled like this until I was bout 6 years old. It's a nice old-fashioned scent.

Nice score on the Single Ring bythbook. I have one from that period, early '05? Mine's a bit ugly, but shaves gently.Nice work. I got engaged (after 5 years, back in May of 2004) and got married last August. Don't worry, it is not a plunge, but the beginning of a new life as an adult. You will feel a little different the next day...no matter how much you tell yourself you don't.
Congrats!

Two Japanese natural hones, one of which you may recognize from the b/s/t forum (thanks Lear!). And two other items which will make their B&B debut in the SOTD forum.

250 Super Iridium's (I've read some positive reviews, hopefully they will replace the Swede's I'm almost out of) and 10 Feather's (I haven't used these since I first started a couple of years ago and want to give them another shot).

Wow Robert, that is a real beauty. Bob does some excellent work!

As for me, just got a bottle of the Family Dollar Old Spice Aftershave knockoff. At $1.60/bottle I just couldn't resist smelling what the old formulation Old Spice was like.

Here's some stuff I've gotten this week. (The Tweezerman's not new. That's just where I've started keeping it.) Plus, I stole the idea of using a pipe stand for a razor rack from a couple other B&Bers. This rack holds 16 razors, and spins like a lazy susan.

Thank you, it took a lot of sanding and polishing. I used a variety of abrasives. From 100 grit aluminum oxide to rubbing compound. It was more of an experimental razor. I also took out the pins and broke the scales on accident on one end. :frown: so now im off to make new ones for this one.

Quite pleased with this week´s haul. First off a 1921 New Improved in an unidentified tin case. It was surely worth the 10 USD I paid.
48504

A very simple "Josima" razor which I found rather interesting. I know nothing about this whatsoever, but the mechanism is rather novel.
48505

Finally, a English Redtip with a case in decent condition for 15 USD. The razor is not mint, but it´s probably about 98%. The paint is completely intact.

as you can see the end teeth are bent - there is a tiny tiny hairline crack at the top of the handle (visible only after polishing) - but it's my double ring!!!! And it just occurred to me - 1905 was my father's birth year - realizing that, I am esp. happy to have this razor!

I shaved with it this morning - it was a pleasure!

Old Types are sooo maneuverable, so light & responsive (what ARE we talking about here?) - seems the cap is a little more curved than my '07 single ring - so I needed to tighten the thing wayyyy down to secure the blade.

BBS all the way.

We all know what straight razors are, but who knew there was such a thing as gay razors? Found these in a plastic bag on the bottom shelf of an antique shop. Asked the lady at the counter if she had any DE razors and was told that a guy came in just yesterday and cleaned them out. Welcomed me to have a look around. Found thirty blades still sealed in plastic in a ziploc bag for $9. Oh, one other thing, the gold beauty was in there too and was totally hidden by the blades. Can anybody help me ID both the blades and the razor? I know the photo is poor, but here's what I can tell you about the razor. Gold Gillette 3 piece, 3" handle, no date code and looks like it's never even seen a drop of water.

Thanks Smoov. Now I have a frame of reference for my research. Here's a couple more gets from a different mall. $2 for the Old Spice shave mug and $5 for the Avon Station Wagon AS 6 fluid ounces of memories. Was planning to refill it, but the more I sniff it, the harder it will be.

What do you want to know? Vintage Solingen, looks like its about a 5/8 and just right for a first straight. I have one in 13/16, which was easy enough to hone and shaves nicely. So I think you should clean it up, get it honed and become a straight guy.
