Currently I am using Nivea's Oil Control Face Wash. It has made my face less oily but are there any other products that you guys reccomend? Also my I am gettin some rough lines around my eyes and high cheek area. What face wash/ moisturizer do you reccomend to improve the quality of my skin?? Right now I am using Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing Lotion

i'd suggest one that contains aha's (alpha hydroxy acids). i've been using it for the past couple of years and its the only thing that i've found that really cuts through the oil/grime etc. really cleanses the skin, but can be a bit harsh. to the contrary, using too much skin product can exacerbate the oil production. but you may want to consider a moisturiser to specifically control the oil, such as OC8 which kind of 'mops' up the oil.
the only way that i've found to stop the oil production is going on a course of roaccutane.
hope that helps?

Go the opposite route and try some Cetaphil, a very mild cleanser. Give it a week or so and see if it works for you - folllow the directions on the bottle. If you have oily skin (as I do), being very aggressive with face cleaners and trying to remove the oil I think casued even more oil output for me. Other gents have reported the same experiences here as well.

Try Men-U. Very good product if you have oily skin.

Men-U is a great choice.....I have used it with success.
However, I am currently using Menscience face wash and following it up with their daily sunscreen/moisturizer. I think it is the best combo I have ever tried....and I have tried them all! The sunscreen/moisturizer sinks in and is not greesy. My skin feels dry to the touch after application. The wash does a good job of stripping off the oils and gunk my face accumulates. Used in combo with the sunscreen....its perfect for my oily skin.
By the afternoon....I am usually still pretty dry on my face....and I used to be VERY OILY.

I agree on the men-u recommendation. I keep some at work for an afternoon washup. I have also used Baxter's of California face wash, and it is much like Cetaphil. It will work well for oily skin, but I recommend the Cetaphil due to it's price.

I like Cetaphil too. A couple other good ones for oily skin are Murad foaming pomegranate face wash and Clean and Clear Oxygenating face cleanser. They are all great products. The oxygening one is really wild. You put it on your dry face and it gradually foams up and feels pretty cool.

I've been using Osea Ocean Cleanser from Nicole at GentsLlc.com (http://www.gentsllc.com/shop/face/oo001.html) for the last two weeks, and I've NEVER used a cleanser that was this effective. I own and have used ALL the cleansers above, and this one tops them all. One little squirt into the hands, massage it into the face and rise off with cool water.
My face is cleaner than it has EVER been -- soft and nice, and as a bonus, it leaves all my blackheads ready to expel.
I had a nasty case of acne, and this stuff got rid of it, too!
Call me a FAN!!! :001_tongu

I think all of us will have different opinions. I thought cetaphil was useless. Kinda like thick water.

I see a lot of you like Cetaphil, I may try it out. How about a moisturizer that will improve the quality of my skin? I am using Aveeno's Daily Moisturizer which is good, it doesnt leave my face oily, but I always think that there is something better I could be using

have you tried a good olive oil bar with some palm oil in it as well. olivia care makes soap that is to die for IMHO, and i've tried alot of different kinds. especially during the winter when it's so dry out.

Have you tried any of the non Target Sharps line? It's far superior & certainly worth a shot.

I too have oily/combo skin, & nothing has worked as well for me as Menscience products. They're a bit on the pricey side, but they are well worth it.

I have oily skin as well. I've had great success with the Cetaphil face wash designed for oily skin and California North's Gelskin wash--great stuff but a bit pricey.

Just curious, why do you prefer a mixture of olive and palm over one or the other? Palm oil just doesn't seem as good to me, even though the palm oil based bars usually retain their glycerin, while the olive oils don't (at least none that I've come across).

California Gelskin wash is pretty good stuff too.

I'll second the Gelskin Wash from California North. When you purchase the 16oz pump it is pretty economical - an 8oz bottle lasted me 8 months washing my face every night.
I also use it with their Action Moisturiser and have had great sucess at controlling my combination skin.

I would say take out the Aveeno. It's too thick. Maybe try a lighter moisturizer. I use one pump of Lubriderm for sensitive skin (the green top). I used to use Cetaphil and it made my face shiny. I use Neutrogena (the orange stuff) in the shower and its gravy.
I have been using Spectro Jel for years thanks to a suggestion from my dermatologist. I have always had very oily skin and a wash with this before bed and then again in the morning has helped me immensely. I have never had a reason to try anything else after being introduced to Spectro, and while it is a bit pricier than some other face washes, it is worth every penny IMHO. I have always bought the large tubs of the stuff though, you may be able to save some cash if you can find the smaller travel bottles.

Burt's Bee's TOMATO SOAP for TROUBLED SKIN. $6.99 a bar which will last you a couple of months.
This is the good stuff.....The LETTUCE Soap is also good for "normal" skin.
If any soap/wash you are using is drying out your oily skin too much (this happens to me alot) use Cetaphil Moisturizer
after washing up. Bargain priced & as far as I know the only Moisturizer that is "non-comodogenic" so that it doesn't clog
your pores up causing dreaded blackheads or whiteheads. I wouldn't use anything but Cetaphil even if you gave me a jug of some expensive "designer" gunk moisturizer.... Cetaphil also makes a Cleanser which is also inexpensive but for Cleansing I treat myself to Burt's Bee's Facial Cleanser which is like a lemon custard mixed with a sprinkle of exfoliating Poppy Seeds,
DELICIOUS STUFF....

Hi There - Cetaphil is making a cleanser specifically or oily skin - the aptly named 'Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser'. I've been using it for about 4 months now and its really done a great job for me. I use it in the shower all-over every day. You might even say its my pre-shave! :tongue_sm
It takes a week or so to notice the difference, but its great stuff.

Thanks for the info but the OP hasn't logged on for 7+ months. I doubt he's thinking about this. :tongue_sm
Quick question: Is Cetaphil still making this cleanser or have they already made the cleanser, since you've been using it for 4 months? I use olive oil soap but maybe I can use this too.

I don't have really oily skin but I know a few people in my family that do and their getting into their 40's and 50's and they look years younger than their siblings and they say it's from their oily skin....:blushing:
