Everytime I think I'm gonna get all "minimalist", I buy something that nixes that plan. Since January, 90+% of my shaves have been with the Mappin & Webb 5/8.
Last Week, I purchased this F.J. Hesse Baltimore, MD 11/16 "Professional" on the SRP Classifieds. It was listed as having a bone handle/scales. I think they MIGHT be Ivory....or Bone....but it is really a classically beautiful razor...Actually reminded me very much of the Mappin & Webb styling....
I'm STILL ULTIMATELY going minimal....just not this week I guess....

Doesn't matter to me wether it's bone or ivory, looks awesome! Congratulations on getting your hands on this, must be a pleasure to shave with it.

Picked up a mislabeled New Standard off the 'bay for a very reasonable price. Thought it looked good on the listing, but damn. :w00t:
The handle is in immaculate shape with only the thinnest and tiniest crack at the top. The head shows a decent amount of wear and some brassing, but is smooth and shiny. All I've done so far is soak and scrub with soap and water and it already looks amazing. Can't wait to do a light rub down with Flitz just to shine it up more.
Also picked up a double ring that looked to be in bad shape for a steal, but it has cleaned up and polished up beautifully. Such a sweet razor.

A couple new goodies.
My photography skills leave much to be desired.
The Milord is in excellent shape. I’m sure it has been used, but there are no marks on it at all. Now I’m going to have to buy a “user” Milord as this one was nicer than I expected.

An Excello travel case, the razor is an Ever-Sharp Schick One with a blade in it. The brush’s and comb are in excellent condition, not the slightest speck of gold is missing. Other than the blade in the razor, none of the items appear to have been used. It had a hand written Birthday note in it. It was difficult to film as it is nothing but shiny, gold satin. This would not be something I would typically buy, but I had to.

I guess I should clarify...nothing special meaning no vintage razor or hard to find item ;)
As for the Lilac Vegetal, when I first opened it I did not like it one bit. I did not immediately like it after I put it on. After about five minutes of wearing it, I was hooked. I love it now! It smells like walking in a greenhouse in the spring.
I got a razor lot in the mail yesterday. A lot of razors, 3 that interested me. Here are two of them:
A Hoffritz Travel Slant. I have only seen a few others like it. 4 piece travel Slant which came in a case just like the other German travel razors.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3390/3450203136_abaac169b9.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3414/3449387095_60ce193782.jpg?v=0
and a Ziglar open comb slant. I have never seen one like it, so it is time to do some research. (looking at you Guido ;)) The head is massive, thick base plate, lots of space on the sides of the blade.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3654/3450202990_6b89a218b3.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3372/3450202960_b4c44dde3e.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3660/3450218998_6027b5c5ec.jpg?v=0
The third is another slant, but I haven't had a chance to clean it.
I just found a thread that cooncatbob has one! :) (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=12228)

Hit a pretty good sized antique mall yesterday. Found a couple starights, but neither were worth restoring. My wife spotted a brush which turned out to be a bottle! Not what I wanted when we went there, but for $2, it's a neat decoration for my shelf! When we got home, the UPS man had left my Rolls Razor! I know these are everywhere and hardly anyone wants them, but I've always been curious. Just had to find one I thought was nice enough. Most either have a crapped out strop or a busted hone. I got this one in it's original box with papers documenting a factory reconditioning in '38. Spend some time cleaning(didn't need much), honed it, stropped it vigorously as per the instructions, and got a very easy DFS with it this morning! Didn't go ATG, usually don't on Saturday, but really happy with the results from this razor.
That's a pretty cool bottle :badger:

I got my first case of true RAD this week. Prior to now my only razors were a flaretip SS, a Fatboy, and a Merkur Slant. I picked the Merkur up here used, but I found the two Gillettes at antique malls for $6 and $9 respectively. My acquisitions this week are:
40's SS (BST)
40s SS and ball-end Old style (ebay)
Cased 48'-50' Milord (ebay)
Bar handle NEW (BST)
And I'm glancing at a Bostonian and another NEW on eBay right now. I probably don't stand a chance on the Bostonian.
I take some solace in the fact that these are all inexpensive purchases, none of them really collectors grade except for perhaps the 40s SS from the BST forum (caseless though). I'll probably resell the ebay SS here along with the ebay NEW if I happen to win that auction (not likely, I set a really lowball snipe with the hopes it slips through the cracks)

My FIRST Pipe purchase, an Edwards, from a local Tampa Pipe & Tobacco Institution originating in 1960. Great shop! Several guys smoking cigars, pipes, and shooting the breeze inside. Fantastic offerings among all things tobacco. I chose one of their "Bargain Basket" Briar Pipes made for them exclusively and a pouch of their house blended "Kentucky Bourbon." It reminded me of what my dad or grandfather would have smoked in their pipes in rural Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Ol' Kentuck!
I smoked a bowl of it on my drive home and really enjoyed it! I have also recently joined the Pipe forum, Brothers of Briar. It reminds me of when I first started on B&B. Seems like a wonderful place with really nice gentlemen.
Its such a nice day I went for a bike ride and a run, and when I came back I had a couple things waiting for me! Some MB soaps and a cream sampler from Shave Den. Also is my Spyderco UF from the other day.

I spent a few hours cruising Antique Alley today and found a few goodies. I scored a Neillite 400, a Gillette 1920 Big Fellow, a 5/8 Wade and Butcher full hollow and a cheap Paki straight. But the Paki straight has the Square and Compasses on the blade so I figured why not. Turns out the seller was a brother. Pretty good sale.
I will post pix shortly.
1920- should clean up rather nicely.
