View Full Version : Removing Blade from Schick Injector

I picked up a couple of Schick Injector razors with the bakelite handles. They're in very good condition, but I still need to clean, sterilize and polish them. The problem is that both still have blades in them that I need to remove without putting a new blade in, and I haven't been able to figure out how.

I've taken one out by inserting the injector and pushing out a new blade for just a little bit until it pushes the old blade slightly out the other end. You can then grab it with pliers and pull it the rest of the way out. Then push the new blade back in (if you have a small flat-head screw driver you can get it all the way back into the blade injector).

There may be a better way, but this has worked for me.

Abagadro, well said - a tried and true method. This is the way to go.

Be very careful when you clean them, if you decide to "field strip" them. To my dismay, I found out that exerting the force needed to take them apart can also be enough force to crack the handles. :blushing:

This is the way to go. Well said. I am satisfied that I have sterilized mine just by oaking them in Barbicide without taking them apart. Do not boil the handles or stick the handles in alcohol, the handles cannot stand up to either.

If you don't have a pack of injector blades handy, I use two toothpicks. One to gently push into the space the "key" would go, leave that there and use the second toothpick to CAREFULLY push out the old blade. It can be a little tricky if the old blade has a lot of rust holding it in place.
