Making a Straight Razor

I've seen some phenomenal work on this site with some truly beautiful straight razors, and I've never imagined making a blade of any kind on my own, but I can't help but be incredibly intrigued about the process.

So what I'm asking is... What goes into making your own straight razor? I'm not planning on doing it, I don't have what I need I'm sure, but I'm so deeply curious, I'd love to know more!
