I just received an order of Astra Superior Platinums from www.barberdepots.com and the packaging for the blades was different that what I had purchased a few months ago.

I didn't find any threads about this so it is just an FYI. The blades look the same. The new boxes look recent since they include an email address.

New items on the left.

Yes, I noticed the same thing.

I just got a carton from another member. I suspect he got a bulk order (11 cartons for $110) from Barber Depot.

I was a bit disappointed when I saw the new packaging. The cardboard dispensers look cheap compared to the plastic ones.

However, I will admit, the new boxes are easier to get the blades out. I often had to dig out the blades with a toothpick when it got down to the last 1 or 2 in the plastic cases. With the cardboard, they come right out.

They seem to be using a lot more wax to seal the blade wrappers, too. Not a big deal, since it doesn't affect the shave.

Thanks for the pictures. It seems that they couldn't walk away from the glue spots... Like David, I think that cardboard will be better than plastic! I have a metallic Gillette dispenser anyways!

The fellow who owns Barber Depot told me the cardboard was new packaging, but he was also fresh out of astra blades last week when I was there. I picked up Osage Rub and was going to snag a 100 for one of the students who just got into wet shaving. Instead, I got him Dorco 301 ST's for $9.
