Well the title says it all. I can whip up a boat load of lather out of MWF like you wouldnt believe and I can't for the life of me lather Dr. Harris properly. ANyone got any tricks? I use a Edwin Jagger best badger brush.

Hello,
have you tried soaking the top of the puck with a teaspoon of hot water for a couple of minutes before using so you can pick up enough soap on the brush. Just a thought. :001_smile
Dont give up on it, I am sure eventually once you master it it might become one of your favorites.
What flavour do you have?

Well for beginners, I wouldn't try to lather up a Dr anyway. They don't take kindly to it and tend to thrash those who do with their stethoscopes. On the other hand, I have no problem lathering D.R. Harris soaps and find them one of the easier soaps to do so. Unlike you, I can make only passable lather with the MWF. I am beginning to think water quality is much more a factor than we give it credit for and that some soaps just flat work better with certain water. Sorry, not much help.
Regards, Todd
More than a few men have tried to lather the soap up with the plastic wrap still on the soap.:001_smile

This is exactly what I do. I add a couple of drops of water to the puck between passes.

I throw some water on the Dr H soap while I shower and my brush swims. Pretty much what I for all my soaps. MWF was a challenge for me to get right. I eventually got another brush and now it's great.

Lavender. I almost went for Arlington but it was bit too sweet to my taste. The lavender smells great.
I actually tried the teaspoon of water on top and what I end up getting is a lather that is too wet. I'll try your trick with a close to dry brush, which is what I do with MWF.

this is really odd that a Harris soap is not lathering. I would say that the Harris soaps are the easiest lathering soaps. You may have a bum soap

Try loading the brush with the soap puck sideways or even upside down.

Check this (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=21136) out, it works for me with D.R Almond every time. What bush are you using?

Where did you get your Harris? There was a website a few years ago that was (likely inadventently) selling Harris bath soap as shaving soap. Maybe something similar happened here.

Bought it in a store here in Montreal called Vasco. The box it came in was the original D.R Harris box.

This is an excellent post and helped me get LOADS of lather from my D.R. Harris Lavender soap. The only difference is that I use more than a teaspoon of water to soften the puck. I fill up the mug with warm water - soaking the puck and the brush (EJ BB) while I shower.
I empty the water, squeeze out the brush and make a 5 to 10 second swirl over the puck. I then add water a drop at a time and lather directly to my face.
I get enough lather for three passes and touch ups afterwards.
I had given up on soaps all together until I started soaking the puck per this thread. Now I don't know if I can ever go back to my shaving creams!
Good luck,
~Paul

ahem....
Maybe the soap has formed a 'crust' that doesn't lather too well? Just a guess.
I'd try starting with a soaked brush that has had most of the water squeezed out to load the brush, and then dip the tip of the brush into your water resevoir as you go along to adjust the water untill you get the right ratio.
