The Ever Ready "Streamline" set came in today. It is stamped "British Made" on the tab. I put a blade in the stropper for those wondering what it is and how it is used, so here are a few pictures for your viewing enjoyment.

That's the first Streamline pic I've seen with the top up. I like the way it's open inside, looks good! I've been wanting to pick one of there up for quite a while, now I NEED to get one:lol: Anyone's thoughts on how they shave would be welcome, just don't try to tell me they're better than my Micromatic:biggrin::lol::lol:

Very nice. That is what I've been looking at (a GEM set) in Australia for $75. Sadly, instead of a razor and strop, it was 2 stroppers and 1 leather strop. I am waiting for the dealer to ring me to see if she has the proper razor. it might well be in a second set that has 2 razors...possibly Ever-ready instead of GEM.
I'd be interested in learning how much it cost over there.

Mine looks the same on the outside, but it is very different on the inside:

No, they are not better than your Micromatic. Your particular Micromatic is the world's best shaver.

And here are two pictures of the bottom of the razor. The first is with the cap open, the second is with the cap closed which is how you took your picture. I guess our razors are really quite different.

Thanks for the pics Ontario. Is yours British made also?

I've had my theories for a while, I guess you just confirmed them :lol:

You're very welcome, I was very interested to see the differences in the razors.

Yes, it says "British Made" under the tab of the razor and on the leather strop. The stopping machine says "Made in England"

is the shave similar to the 1912 Ever-ready/GEM?

Similar but not quite. It's not quite as aggressive as a 1912, and because it is a heavier razor, it balances differently in the hand.

I would have to agree with Ontario, similar but different. I used mine last night and for me at least, it wants to be more flat to the face than the 1912's. It will take a few shaves to get dialed in, but I think this one will be in the rotation, at least on an occasional basis.

cheers. It is a couple days later and I have not heard back from the Antique establishment regarding the dealer/consigner possible set that my have 2 razors as i saw a set with 2 stroppers.

Haha. "Gemocrat" How about an Ever-Republican. Don't shoot...I'm Australian
