Evening gents, just had a wee chat with my father, and he thinks that his father used a gillette single edge razor at some point.
My first reaction was that it was probably a gem, what he described blade wise matches up very closely to a gem. But I wanted to check with you guys if gillette ever made a single edge razor?
Many Thanks

Gillette made an injector for a short time if I'm not mistaken. Not like a GEM, but SE.

Does anyone have a picture of one of these?

Fnord5 beat me to it, but Rodd has a couple of very nice pics about 3/4 of the way down this thread. (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=66984)

They had the Techmatic razor as well. I assume that could be considered single edge.

I don't think Gillette ever did standard SE blades. With that said they would not make a razor, since they would not make a profit on it. I think they only did the injector razor because they made the injector blades brieftly the "Twinjector/early Trac II". Remember these companies are all about the profit, i.e. BLADES.

Maybe he thinks SE is DE. DE blades only have one blade on the face at a time.

The handle is nothing special really, but Gillette's injector blades (the Platinum variety) are fantastic!
