Hi Guys,

Just wanting to confirm what I believe these to be:

The first is of course a British Gillette Aristocrat from 1930s? but does it have a model number?

The other is a vintage lightweight Merkur Slant - but can anyone date these? Box states 'Germany' which may indicate pre WW2 - 1930s again?

Any info greatly appreciated

This is a NOS Chessman supplied too - the only tiny blemish is a bit of blistering of the nickel to the top section, but hey I can always replate the top if it gets worse. I'd expect this from a possibly 70 year old razor, even it it's just been in storage.

Other than this it is mint :-)

First razor is a British Aristocrat - #66 if it has a diamond shaped base plate (like a super speed) or a #16 if it has a solid base plate. Date would be sometime during the 50's.

Nice, I thought these were silver plated?

The shaving cap is made of zinc while the rest is brass.

Are you able to plate zinc?

The handle is Silver plated but the guard and top are zinc based, copper coated then nickel plated. The zinc is possible to replate so long as it isn't pitted - once pitted it's an absolute nightmare.

Thanks Guys

Anyone know where I can get an accurate date for the Merkur - as I say, I believe 1930s, but not 100% ?
