Q:strop and paste application

So here is my plan
I have ordered off ebay a cheap 20"strop and two razors for practice.
I have also ordered Dovo two part paste
The plan is to use the light color strop for daily use
the dark one for the paste.
Now these strops do not have cloth or canvas.
I was going to use the back of these strops for the paste keeping one side clean on each one.

Can any one tell me if i am on the right track?
I was just going to do the trial and error but you guys are here so i would like some input. I do realize i shouldn't need to use the pasted strop often given how coarse my beard is i'm suspecting a weekly routine on the pasted sides of the strops may be in order. I guess only time will tell

i'd be surprised if you need to hit the pastes every week.

ive a rotation of 4 straights i use regularly, and ive only needed to hit the pastes once each in about 8 months. (though theyre starting to ask for another little touch up soon)

also, make sure you get good shave ready razors, or all the pastes in the world wont help you.

I got one special razor coming in the mail shave ready. the other two are my trial and error ones. I'm working on a couple of old barber hones off ebay i'm bound to win one of them

that's really good that it holds for that long inbetween touch ups. touch ups you're meaning with paste or honing?
