View Full Version : Wilkinson Blades @ London Drugs, any good?

I guess this question is for wet shavers in Western Canada:
London Drugs stores carry Gillette Super Stainless blades (that nobody likes). They also have Wilkinson Sword blades (sorry, no pictures), packaged differently than what can be found in online stores. Priced at ~$11 for pack of 10.
I'm wondering if people here have experience with these blades. They seem to be quite expensive and I don't want to buy if quality is questionable.

Sorry I'm not local, but are they black, white, or yellow?

The UK made Wilko's are no longer available in the UK or at West coast shaving !!

Yellow, type is "Classic". Worth getting at discount?

The WS at London Drugs are Russian I think. I haven't bought any yet because they are quite pricey.

I've used the white classics, not the yellow. The whites were ok, but did not seem sharp enough for me.

I don't know where it was made, but here are the reviews:

Also, apparently there is a couple other brands that have a very similar razor. I think Treet was one, but I can't remember the other.

Is there really a difference in the yellow and white blades besides the packaging?

Do you know where I could get one?

I shaved with a pack of white Wilkonsons that I bought in a local drugstore (eastern Canada). It's been a long time since then but I recall that they were a bit smoother and sharper than derbies, which is what I was using at the time.
IIRC the only indication of origin on the packaging was an address or phone number somewhere in toronto. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. That might have been the questions/complaints line or it might have been the place of manufacture.
I think I paid $7 for a 10-pack.

That razor is made in Germany. I have one for sale in the package for $10 shipped CONUS. You can PM me if you are interested.

Wow, from what I have seen there are about three to four different types of Wilkinson's blades floating around, all in the newer packaging, I wonder if they are all the German or Russian made versions?

I've seen them on ebay, but you'll probably way overpay. Where do you live?

American, I would contact Pauldog, a user on this forum, I believe he has some of those razors from time to time and could probably help you out. I have done some business with him in the past and everything worked out great. :thumbup1:

Yeah, the ones on ebay plus shipping are easily 2 to 3 times what the price should be.
