If anyone has a picture of a blade in a slant bar could you please post them. I reciently purchased a 39C and on my razor it looks like the one side of the blade does not touch the side of the razor (yeah I know that's a horrible description, see the pic) It only looks like this on one side. After hearing about Merkur's quality control issues I'm not sure if I am imagining things or if something really isn't right. I'll try to post my own pic tonight. But here's what I'm talking about.

Hard to make out what you are referring to in your pic, but I think I know what you are referring to. Mine looks fine. Sorry for the horrible pic.

Sorry that pic wasn't my razor just one to show the area I was talking about. Here are a couple close ups of the gap between the blade and the head. The revers side doesn't have the gap but the blade is barely touching

Well I just ordered a regular slant. When I get it I'll try and borrow a digital camera and post picture of it.
I hope that you get some more pictures in the meantime.

Sorry that I'm late in answering this, but I had almost the exact problem with a 39c not too long ago. Luckily, the vendor (West Coast Shaving) is a great business run by a stand-up guy, and it was promptly handled.
I don't have a camera to show you what my new, non-defective one looks like. But basically, with the defective razor, one end (not blade edge, but the side of the head where the "tabs" of the blade stick out) of the razor head didn't sit flush when completely tightened, and the other did. This resulted in a gap (as you describe) between the defective end of the head and the blade. On the defective end, the blade protruded from the head more "straight out" as compared to the non-defective end, where the blade sat flush, and curved downward with the razor head, as intended. While the difference was minute, I imagine it would have made a huge difference when it comes to shaving, especially with an instrument like the 39c.
If I were you, I would contact the vendor immediately, and they should replace it for you.
