Usually, you apply paste to the leather side but some people have applied it to the canvas or untreated side with success. To be sure, is this your daily strop or a strop you purchased specifically to apply pastes?

oh also, i forgot to ask..
the day i'm not shaving, let say 2-3 days in between shaves, should i still strop in between days or just strop prior to the shave?
some say that the blade dulls even when sitting on your counter?? is that true?

You can get very fine particle of rust on the edge, essentially dulling it, but thats one reason we strop. You only really need to strop before your shave, thats it. You can strop after to make sure the edge is nice and dry, but you dont have to.
Dont apply the diamond compound to your main strop! You can add it to the back or to the canvas, but not something you would use before every shave. Pasted strops are only used once in a while for touch-ups

You can clean your strop, but it can be troublesome. I would get another and keep the pasted one for touchups. If you do decide to clean it there are some good threads you can find with a search as I cant remember how at the moment
