I've done my reading on the board and learned a lot from you GEM / Ever-Ready masters.

I see that Gem Stainless = Pella.

I can get Pella PTFEs in bulk at Pella or EMS.

Also see that Pal, Treet, and Gem Blue Star are Carbon Steel, which means potentially sharper than stainless with PTFE, but subject to rust and may dull sooner.

See that you can do spine surgery on Feather SEs. Creative. Won't be doing that, though.
.

But I could not find answers to the following questions:

1. How many shaves are users getting out of the various SE blades?

2. What's the best way to prolong the life of the carbon steel blades? Remove and wipe dry? (Not going down the stropping road, though.)

3. Among the carbon steel blades, is there a view about which perform better?

4. Do any of the Pella carbon steel SE blades correspond to the carbon steel blades mentioned above? (e.g., is the drug store Gem Blue Star available in bulk at Pella as well? If so, which one is it?)

5. Anyone giving the old cork / styrofoam pass to SE blades before they load up?

6. Recommended online retailers for Blue Star and Pal SE's.?

7. Who makes the CVS brand blades, and are they carbon or PTFE stainless?

8. Any other worthwhile SE blades that I missed?

1. shaves with blades vary. sample blades and find out which ones work best for you. personally im getting: 6-7 from a pella, 2-3 from a gem blue star, 3-4 from a PAL super single edge and 4-5 from a treet.

2. dry a carbon steel blade RIGHT AWAY when youve finished shaving with it or it will begin to rust a bit, possibly getting worse.

3. i personally like the PAL super single edge. opinions on this vary as not all faces are the same.

4. dont think so. the gem personna blades you can find in stores though are just rebranded pellas although this is occasionally under debate.

5. IMO, why would you purposely dull a brand new blade? my 2 cents, again, others have their own opinion.

6. PM me and ill point you to a place online.

7. probably american safety razor. im pretty sure theyre PTFE.

8. gem personna, but i already made mention of those :001_smile

if you need anymore help, just drop me a PM anytime.
