Meehan's Sandalwood Anyone?

Has anyone tried, bought or used Meehan's Sandalwood? There have been postings on the Bay Rhum, but nothing on this, I believe. They claim it's the best in the business. That could be hype, pride or truth. So, I am wondering which it is.

I tried a sample of their Sandalwood cologne awhile ago. As a lover of their Bay Rhum, I figured this would be a no-brainer.

I was wrong.

The only scent I ever really got from their Sandalwood "cologne" was alcohol. Grappa, more specifically. At first I thought the alcohol smell would evaporate after 30 seconds or so, but no. It never really went away. There was a hint of Sandalwood mixed in somewhere, but after several tries I gave up & wound up throwing it out.

Good thing I only bought a small sample.

Wow that's very disappointing. I checked the website, and now they don't have samples of this anymore. They claim it's the best sandalwood out there. As I am not a bay rum guy I would have liked to try this but oh well...Thanks for your assessment.

If you give them a call you can probably get them to send you a small sample. I'd be interested to hear someone else's opinion; it's possible I got a bad batch.
