Razor Blade and Glue

Hiya,
I've found that the glue used to attach my 7'oclocks to the packaging causes rusting to occur at those spots, even when the rest of the razor is dry. What would be the best and safest method to remove the glue?

Are yours the yellow, green, or black-label 7 O'Clocks? I don't notice any rust at all on my yellow-label blade. This might be related to the blade coating, or lack thereof.

They are the yellows. The rust only forms where the glue is. The only reason I can think of would be that the glue somehow retains water.

I just looked at my razor after using a new blade once (2 days earlier). There are lines of what I can only assume are rust, looking like it almost dripped from where the glue is (reddish brown stains, almost like someone dripped ink on it). I let it dry on the counter, and the only conclusion I can draw is that the glue somehow retains water, causing the blade to rust.

Having the same problems with my green Russian made 7 O'Clocks. So can I clean them or have they gone off? Are they still safe to use?

I am using Astra Superior Platinums and they have 'dots' of glue on them that drive me crazy. The glue dots usually overlap on the blade edge and I imagine they must interfere with the cutting action.

I keep those little one-use alcohol wipes in a foil pack (1"x1" or so) and use them to clean off the glue dots. They work great. But, it is a pain in the ass - I am going to look for different blades to use since I resent having to clean off my blades before putting them in the razor. (I do like the the ASPs though.)

I use Astras as well as rocketman, but if the glue is of the same consistency all I do is run it under very hot water for a few seconds, it then just rubs off.

I traded my yellow pack 7 O'Clocks because the glue made the blade adhere to the head of the razor. Life is hard enough without trying to pry off a stuck DE blade.

Since I just picked up 200 Astras, I'm a little concerened to hear about the glue on them. Fingers crossed.

Is there maybe something to dip them in that would dissolve the glue?

I find swishing my blades in situ in alcohol dissolves the glue. I do this as a matter of course between shaves to disinfect and prevent rusting.

I've used Astras for almost 2 years. Yes the glue is a slight pain in the bum, but I don't think it is affecting the performance . They are very good blades.

Naptha (ZIPPO or Ronsonol lighter fluid) dissolves glue well. It also spot cleans grease stains, removes tar, and you can use it in a cigarette lighter

7 O'clocks and Astra Superior Platinums - these are both manufactured by Gillette aren't they? Perhaps they are the same blade? I am pretty sure the ASPs are manufactured in the Russian factory. Does anybody know if 7 0'clocks are the same thing?? I have not had 7 oclocks but the Astras have 5 dots of glue - 4 on one side with one in the middle of the other side.

I've also read that it can be used to fuel an MSR XGK backpacking stove in a pinch.
