I got sucked into a dbay auction for a razor that I think is a #48...

I really am not happy with myself... but I think it's a cool razor - does anyone know anything about these? I've seen Achim's pic - an early Aristo Jr without endcaps and no notched center bar - maybe late 1930's or 1947-ish?

any info appreciated - thanks!

This is a #48, an Arit. Jr. variant that was sold in Australia. Check the safety razor section, there is a thread on this exact razor that was posted before your auction ended. Good pictures and some more info in there.

Erwin, THANK YOU!!!!

I read that thread when I was infected with Rocket-mania - and I had forgotten... whew - at least I wildly overspent on an "...uncommon razor [that] could predate both the Rocket and Aristocrat Jr...."

Congrats! I really like the look of this razor (I was bidding on it some, but it got too pricey for me). To me it looks like the offspring of a Aristocrat Jr., a '47 no notch SS, and a Ranger Tech (no endcap)

I thought it was gonna go high, so I put in a too-high-for-me bid (but respectable, you know?) and went to bed... partly hoping I'd be outbid. Damned if I didn't win (within $2 of my max).

I agree this seems to be a hybrid of the three you name... if you haven't, check out the thread Erwin posted - very informative.

Every time I think I've quieted the whole Rocket/Aristocrat AD (R-AAD?) something like this pops up. Glad I don't have it for the GOLD ones!

Yeah, I've read that post on Rockets (Chris really knows his stuff). Here (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9077) is the companion post on Super Speeds if you haven't read it.
