I was wondering if there was a way we could remove a thread that we started in the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum, after we sold/traded/ found our desired item? I know I've experienced this and I'm sure others have as well, when you see for sale that piece of gear you've been lusting after for months and you click on the item, only to find out it's sold.
Also it would keep the forum from being so cluttered.

If there's no way we could delete the thread entirely, if we could move it to a Sold (or Transaction Completed, etc) Subforum. If it was moved we could still go back and check out what people had been sellling if we were feeling nostalgic. Lastly if neither of these options is feasible, could it be altered so we could edit the title of the thread, this would also lessen the work for the mods, if we could do it ourselves, but IMO I would prefer to see the thread deleted or moved.

I think this could be a great help to the Marketplace. Let me know what you think.

Here's what I was able to find out -

"If you have registered, you will be able to edit and delete your posts. Note that the administrator can disable this ability as he desires. Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

***To edit or delete your posts, click the http://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/buttons/edit.gif button by the post you want to edit. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting the post may result in the removal of the entire thread.***

After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages but this note may not appear when they do so."

So I made a test thread and found that there was no delete button available, only in my in-thread responses. Although I looked through some of my older posts and didnt have an edit button at all so I don't know for sure.

The more I think about it, I like the moving idea, I had, that way they aren't gone, but when people go to listing they can just see active listings. It would be great if we could move our thread after our business is complete.

Here's my take on this. I've been trying to stay on top of things. not always successfully, by marking threads as "sold" as required. I don't think removing the post entirely helps any further, as it can still give a potential buyer/seller an opportunity to see how much traffic a particular item generated, and how much things tend to go for.

Having said that, I don't like the fact that folks overwrite the asking price (with "sold"). It makes me wonder what that minty-ishy toggle that I missed went for. Since the asking price is posted in a public forum, I don't think it should become a state secret after the transaction ends.

Having more examples to check, even if already sold, should always help both the seller and the buyer.
