there should be an electric razor sub section shouldnt there ? My friend lent me one and Im going to use it for a week and compare.
Also, if you google electronic shaving forum, I only found two, and they were both virtually empty. Maybe it would be a good idea to have an electronic razor sub forum on here so that maybe when they do come here, over time they will be converted to real shaving, since this is probably the most popular wet shaving forum.

Good idea however if a person can't figure out that they are getting terrible shaves maybe they should just stick with the "electric" and suffer. Most guys will convert just reading the good stuff on this and similar sites.

The other forums are probably empty because what is there really to talk about regarding the use of an electric shaver? I guess you could debate which is better, rotary or foil.

Thirdeye, he has a very good point. Ya know maybe out of,......ahem!,......mercifulness,.... the mods could create a "sanctuary" for the lost and lonely electric shavers",....I don't know,...just a thought. Maybe it will help to guide others into "leaning" in our direction,........of course you know the more people that come here the more competition you have on Fleabay for those snazzy looking DE razors that we're invented even before the atomic bomb, are going to skyrocket. Have a great day everyone!:001_smile

Well, there actually is an electric razor forum elsewhere on the net. A quick story:
Before I got into wetshaving, I used an old braun..Have to admit, that was a great electric razor, lasted a long time...provided adequate shaves. The razor was on it's last leg, so I went out and purchased the latest and greatest new braun, which was quite expensive, $260 if my memory serves me. Anyway, I happened to be browsing the net and came across this electric razor forum.
To make a long story short, I joined, and contributed a bit...then I discovered the fine art of wet shaving, via this and other boards...I had replied to a post on the electric shaving board about how much better a poster's shaves were since switching from a blade to an electric - I inquired as to what he was wetshaving with, mentioned some brands, and promptly got reprimanded by the mod's. Apparently, even mentioning wet shaving there is grounds for banning and strictly VERBOTTEN!! LOL.
I won't mention the name of the board, but a quick google search for "electric razor forum" should get you there. I just found their rules on mentioning wetshaving:
"This board is for the discussion of ELECTRIC male facial shaving only. If you discuss blade shaving once, you'll receive a warning via email or private message. If it happens again, you'll be banned. Blade shaving may be referred to, but not discussed."
I guess the mod's are afraid that the wetshavers will take over their board LOL. That's cool, though, it's their board and they can run it however they see fit.
Anyway, good or bad, thats me bloody story LOL.

There was another post about electric razors which prompted me to look for an old, old (1960) episode of The Twilight Zone titled "A Thing About Machines".
I could not find the specific clips I wanted by themselves. Here is the entire episode http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video=40503
If you only want to see the electric razor, go to time indexes 16:05 and 19:55.

I shuddered reading the title of the post. I keep an electric around for the quick and dirty shaving-while-driving-to-work-late moments. Or for those 1 hour breaks on a back-to-back 24 hour shift. I always feel a sense of guilt for putting my face through that kind of activity... oh well.
I don't see the need for an electric razor forum here, people should not feel bad about posting reviews of electric shavers in the review section.
Just my 2 cents!

Well, lets theoretically make up our own rules for the imaginary electric shaving sub section forum.
You cannot say electric is better than wet shaving.
Not to promote electric shaving over wet shaving.
Please add some more.

+1 What he said.
Electric razors, IMHO are one of the many tools of the devil. I have tried multiple times in my life to make all kinds of electric razors work. The simple fact is, if your beard is any thicker than a 10 year old girl's the shave is going to totally suck and you'll run that thing over your face until it feels like it's on fire and still not look like you've shaved. None for me, thanks, if an electric is my only choice then, sorry I'll be walking around looking like Karl Marx

+1 ... I've tried more electrics than I can count, and none of them were any good.
Remember that old commercial for Remington shavers? Victor Kiam said "I liked this razor so much, I bought the company. If you don't like it, I'll give you your money back." I GOT MY MONEY BACK, each and every time I bought one of his razors.

In order to get an ingrown hair you have to literally cut the hair too close to the skin, which would be quite a feat for a gadget whose blade doesn't even touch the skin.

I still have my Braun electric in my shaving den and I use it for one thing only......I use the sideburn trimmer to trim the hair that grows on the edges of my ears...really long...along the top and sides...for you young guys it seems to start happening about the time the hair abandonds the top of your head and starts growing everywhere else but where you want it! As with any shaving instrument, if you want to use it, go ahead. However, the only electric razors that are discussed here, albeit begrudgingly, are the Mach3 Power and the Fusion Power. That there is enough discussion material regarding electric shavers to warrant a forum blows my mind.

Prep: Plug shaver in.
Technique: rub all over face until stubble is shorter, but still there.
Post shave: Marvel at how no AS will burn your face, but the lacerations in your hands left from the stubble are on fire.
Post post shave: Search the internets for how to get a better shave.
Post search: register at B&B, and never look back.
Nope, no need for a forum, or even a section of one.

It does.
Ingrown hairs are a common disadvantage of any multiblade razor. They are all designed to "lift and cut", whether it be quatrros, fusions or electric, they are all designed to lift and cut.
That's why most of us are here, to get a smooth shave using one pass at a time and not get our face subjected to dry multiblade passes.
Obviously some person in authority regards electric as not as bad as a fusion/quattro et.al. , but they are all just as bad, that person in authority probably isn't even looking at single blade passes as an option.
I always got ingrowns with an electric.

Rather than ridicule, I believe a simple.. "this is a wet shaving forum" should suffice. Discussion of electrics belong elsewhere.
But I know boys will be boys...
my experience is similar to that of desmoface.
the electric shaving forum is where i first learned the importance of face prep, care, and shaving technique. my results with the electric improved significantly.
not sure where i heard about wetshaving but once i got on board, my results were so superior to the electric that is now used only occasionally.
shaving is really a ymmv experience, however. some people love wetshaving and get superior results, but, there are also people who love electrics and get superior results with them.
Well, there actually is an electric razor forum elsewhere on the net. A quick story:

Err.... I'm pretty sure I found that forum. It looks to me that the reason for no discussion of wet shaving is because of sponsorship by advertisers. That's because of another rule they have -
THE SELLING, TRADING OR GIVING AWAY OF ELECTRIC RAZORS, ELECTRIC RAZOR ACCESSORIES, OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT ON THIS BOARD IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED
No B/S/T forum will ever be there.
We don't need a forum for electrics. They get discussed often enough in around here in the existing forums, and certainly are not banned from discussion (although some wish it so).

That's really weird. Do you have to refer to the moderator as "Our Dear Leader" or "Our Dear Electric Shaver"?
It looks like the site is funded by the electric razor companies (just surfed over).

I think they have. Before I got into DE, I used to check out the electrics at Target. More expensive and they seem cheaper made.
When I shaved off a 16-year-old beard back in 1994, I bought the then top of the line Braun. The case was metal and it felt like something. When that one died, I got another. Plastic case.
Same with Norelcos.
One thing with electrics, you need to replace the heads or foil about once a year. If I remember, that's a bit pricey.

Because there is nothing to discuss in regards to electric razor shaving. And I don't mean that in a snobby, won't stoop to talking about electric razor shaving way. You apply Williams "Lectric Shave and circulate the shaver about your face. That really doesn't lend itself to heated discussions. People are free to ask questions here about them, but I wouldn't expect a lot of answers.

Now, now. Let's show the patience that has been so common everywhere else on this forum. People here have been really supportive and helpful in almost every situation here; from recommending a young man with troubles seek help to dealing with a death.
I think that most people who use electric shavers do so for a couple reasons:
They don't know there's a better way.
They hate cartridges, and the only alternative that is commonly known is electrics.
I'll admit that, when running late, I use a electric I keep in my car. I prefer not to, since even that gives me irritation.
Let us be welcoming, and show such people what wet-shaving has to offer. Few people are given a DE or straight by their father when they turn 18 anymore.

Some use both an electric and wet blade.Well, for eyebrows a short pair of scissors work best. Sideburns? DE razor or straight, no doubt, those the pop-out trimmers on electrics do a nice job (easily the best part of my old Norelco). Ear hair? a DE or Straight works really well. I actually like a Straight for hair at the top of the ear and at the base. Nose hair? You got me there, I used to use scissors but now use a battery powered Panasonic trimmer. Def not a Straight!
also, what do presidents and prime minsiters and politicians use ?? I think they use electric, just a feeling I get.All the reason not to trust either politicians or electrics!
Honestly, if the mods did add a Electric forum I doubt it would get a lot of traffic. A cartridge forum would have more visitors.

just a tip on how to dispose of electric razors the enviromentally friendly way , you have to take it all apart first and then separate the plastic from the metal and the wires etc, will only take 10 minutes at most.
