I have two different "soft" soaps vanderhagen and classic shaving sandlewood. Is it just me or is the classic shaving soap (thought it was low quality because they give it to you when you buy a mug) much better?

I'll take anything by VDH over anything by Classic Shaving any day of the week, but that's just my opinion.

I use VDH and Col Conks. soap, which are nearly identical, quite frequently and they've always worked great. Of VDH though, the Deluxe and Glycerin are preferred over the Select.

I figured for the $1 I paid for it I would give it a shot. I get oodles of lather out of the VDH. Nice and slick too. I like it a lot and the scent, albeit weak, isn't bad at all. All told, a good soap, don't use much else as of late.

Sounds like it is an ok soap. I will have to re-evaluate it. I have not totaly given up on it yet.

I've used my puck of Col. Conk bar rum much more often than the VDH that came in my set, but I quite like it.

I like VBH a lot. I play around with melting it and adding scents and have never hurt its ability to make a great lather. At least not yet, I use the double boiler method.

I've been using VDH with good results for several years now. I prefer the Deluxe the most, but have used all three varieties.

VDH with Derby cream makes for a great and cheap super lather.

i melted a puck of VDH deluxe and mixed in a bunch of proraso cream. Now I have a menthol super lather thats uber slick.

Is there a Col. Conk soap that is similar to the VDH Deluxe? Deluxe works great, but the scent is underwhelming.

Ditto that.

Could I ask what method you are using to add scents? I've thought about doing the same thing, but wasn't certain how to do it. Thanks.

I like VDH and Classic Shaving soaps. There are others I like much better, however.

Right AFTER double boiling the glycerin based soap (VDH) and just prior to pouring it into your mold, stir in the EO oil.

OK. So, do you just experiment with how much to add, starting out with a drop or two? I guess if the scent isn't strong enough you could reheat. Thanks.
