I was just wondering if there is any interest for the Uefa Champions League (soccer ) over on the other side of the north Atlantic? I am about to tune in for a great night of soccer with Inter Milan vs. Manchester United being broadcasted live tonight. Does this get any attention in the US or Canada?

I'd love to see Utd lose, but nothing's really stood in their way this year and I have to expect they're poised to repeat. Barca's got a decent shot, but Chelsea's clearly not as strong as last year and Liverpool won't have anything for them either, especially if Gerrard's fitness is still in question.

My friend asked me if I caught any of it, but I told him no, I was watching sports.

Yes, I love The Champions League. And no, it gets no attention in the US. Maybe a small bump when Man U. is playing but not much. On cable the champions league is broadcast on the ESPN networks. You can also watch the games streamed live from ESPN360 (http://espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/channels?channel=3578752&ex_cid=2009_PSRC_E360_UEFA_NCHE_XXXX&partner=Google) Sadly, there just is not much hype for real football here.

I'll do my part! :a50: :jump: :a50:

Oh and for tomorrow: Go Liverpool!

Darts then? Bowling? Billiards? World poker tour? Professional video gaming?

Atrocious the sorts of things that get considered "sports" these days. :a30:

**Erm... only a joke, not to be taken as a serious comment on American culture or as an expression of shame.

I second that. I live in America and am ashamed. I am not ashamed of the country, just the culture. How did poker become a sport?! We watch the most pathetic, useless shows. Some of our food is good. But what we call Mexican food has never been seen by any one that's not been north of the Rio Grande. Italian is the same, as is any "authentic" food. I never fully appreciated this until I got to travel to Europe. Now I see how wrong we have everything. EXCEPT SOCCER. Don't get me wrong. I think it is probably the most demanding spectator sport around. I would put those players up against any athlete. I just don't have any interest in sitting and watching a whole game. I thoroughly enjoy watching a portion of a game, however.

That's the way I feel about women's basketball. Why bother, who cares!

Never really understood footie. I'm more of a rugby fan. I'm Welsh and we beat England last week! Always a cause for celebration when one of the other home nations beats England...

Lost interest when PSV Eindhoven was knocked out. Now I don't care who wins.
