There's a new Burberry cologne out and I was just wondering if anyone has tried it yet and what they think of it.

I have a big decant of it. I wore it yesterday, in fact.

It has the same sheer/crystal musk base that Burberry Summer and Bulgari Aqua Marine use.

I find The Beat is similar to Bulgari Aqua Marine. It has a slight citrus freshness that blows off extremely quickly. The slight hesperidian notes meld into an oceanic freshness along with some vetiver and woody notes, punctuated by a really firm, and nose-tingling black pepper. There is a hint of cedar, and as the fragrance begins to dry it also gets very salty and musky. The pepper is very prominent, though. Let me be very clear. If you don't like black pepper, this scent it NOT for you. It is chock full of pepper. Its definitely a dry, cool weather fragrance.

I'm the type who grinds so much fresh Malabar and Tellicherry peppercorns on my food that it is essentially blanketed. There are foods that I will actually dip in coarse ground black pepper.

Anyhow, The Beat is good....I wouldn't call it great, but I can see how some others would love it. As far as Burberry goes, I think Burberry Summer is a better fragrance, but I don't mind wearing citrus fragrances in winter.

Its definitely worth a try.
