I have the Trumpers Eau de Portugal and the 4711 Eau de Portugal, courtesy of Jim from Japan. Neither though has much lasting power. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Tried Creed? Rorschuck has some in his decant store. It is the only Portugal I have tried so I can't honestly offer an opinion if it is longer lasting than the others. It does not fade quickly on me if that helps at all.

I am not sure that there is any connection between all these colognes with 'portugal' in their names. They are all woody and spicy, but there are many other awesome woody spicy fragrances called something different.

Why specifically a Portugal?

I love the scent of Trumpers "Portugal" and that's what I'm trying to emulate in a longer lasting scent. For the record, I sent an e mail to Cathy at Colonial Drug and she responded in a day and is sending me some free samples to try out. What great service.

Pinaud's "Eau De Portugal" Hair tonic is widely used as an aftershave/splash (like Osage Rub). It lasts a little longer than Trumper's on me.
I saw the Clubman Portugal hair tonic in a beauty supply store the other day. I looked at it and noticed it had glycerin, which I don't think is usually in Pinaud aftershaves. Does the Portugal have as high an alcohol content as Pinaud aftershave products?

Some Clubman As do indeed contain glycerin (Clubman, Lilac Vegetol, Special Reserve). The Portugal seems to have about as high an alcohol content as the rest of the line.

I had a woman smell Trumper's Eau de Portugal and she told me it reminded her of Nenuco, a Spanish baby cologne that teens and adults also seemed to use back in the late 80's:

Actually, now that she told me, I do remember that scent from when my big sister wore it in high school...
