Hi guys,
Does anyone know of an aftershave, preferrably alcohol based, that is odourless and tasteless. I tend to splash on quite a bit, and end up reeking, and my ex-girlfriend was probably not too happy about the taste either, although she was too polite to mention.
I realise there are so called 'organic' aftershaves, but I'm thinking of one that is almost totally without any additives, maybe just plain alcohol, (or some other natural steriliser) with a few oils.
I have been thinking about this a bit recently, I might looking into possible commercial application if it doesn't exist. Would anyone be interested in purchasing this kind of product? Basically, a no-frills aftershave. Thoughts? Ideas?
I have to say, I didn't realise there would be a forum dedicated to shaving, but I'm glad it exists, cheers to you all.

ps this is my first post, I apologise in advance if my post has commited any shaving faux-pas, or broken any unwitten laws of shave-kind. :wink2:

Well as far as odorless I would think you would have to go with a balm. I don't know of any aftershaves that are alcohol based that don't have a scent. Maybe someone out there does as I am nowhere near an AS expert. I use Neutrogena Razor Defense ASB. It is unscented but it is a balm so I would assume there to be a lotiony taste.
Welcome SavvaK
I not sure what your goal is here? what are you looking to do after your shave? moisturize? cool? close your pores?
There are some options such as an Alum Block, aftershave Balms, Witch hazel and other Hydrosol,as well as fragrances with alcohol.
The web page you are on has a review tab on the top(yellow star) with a section of after-shaving options for you to look through.
Good luck and post up any questions that you may have.

Try Thayer's aftershave - contains alcohol, witch hazel and aloe and no scent.
Its also very cheap - between $4.50 and $6.00 for four ounces.
It works very well and is a high quality product. You can often find it at health food stores or larger grocery/drug stores.
Here's a link so you know what the packaging looks like and can get some more info:

Hi, thanks guys.
I always thought the main point of an aftershave was almost like a disinfectant, to prevent irritation and infection or acne due to any cuts/abrasions or dirt getting into the pores.
I usually feel a bit itchy if I dont splash on anything, and I'm not really fan of the aftershave 'balms', they just dont feel like they are 'doing the trick' (closing the pores) and I dont like the oily feeling.

Try the Thayer's its a liquid and I use it as a splash when I don't want to use a scented AS.

For what you are describing, I will second the Thayer's recommendation. It really is decent stuff. Not all of the versions have alcohol, but I'm pretty sure the plain one does have a little.

Jessica Simpson had a line of products that was lickable:001_tt2: . It tasted pretty good. Maybe you good find some of this. Or go to one of those shops:blush: and get some flavored massage oils. And just put a little on before you go snuggle with you girl. ( I have never tried this so do so at your own risk)

The AS has a fair amount of alcohol judging from the sting (which I don't mind).
As for taste, I really can't say as I try not to drink the stuff - all kidding aside, I haven't noticed it (as I have when I occasionaly get a little of my other AS products to close to my mouth), so I suspect that the taste is minimal.
I'm not sure if you can get it in NZ.
Another recommendation is to use a decent facial toner that contains some alcohol. I think the Body Shope offers a vitamin E toner that might contain some alcohol and I use the Tea Tree toner/normalizer (or whatever they call it), which also contains some alcohol - but does have a mild tea tree scent that wears off very quickly.

I recommend Clinique Post Shave Healer. It is a milky aftershave balm, fragrence free and sounds like what you're seeking. It's $15 for a 3.7oz bottle and should last 6mos to a year. You don't have to use very much at all. Available at the department stores where Clinique cosmetics are sold.
If you want 'cheap' then go the witchhazel or Alum bar route.

I use witch hazel + aloe vera gel, in a 1:1 ratio, shaken, not stirred. Works like a charm.

Third on Thayer's. Alcohol Content varies. THe "Original With Aloe" has none. THe rest have 10-20. I just use the regular lemon witchhazel (20% i think), not the specific "aftershave" so I dont know the AC of that one.
I think Mothernature.com has free shipping over twenty-five dollars. I get vitamns there as well. They sell through amazon.com, so it might ship Int.

So what's your 20?
Don't know if you have a brick and mortar near you that carries Baxter of California ASB so your lady can taste it, and yes I know it's a balm and doesn't have alcohol, but, it does have menthol so it gives that tingle, and it feels so good that it's tough for me to describe the experience.
BTW that is quite possibly the worst sentence I've ever written in my entire life. Sorry about that.
I think you should get the idea that you'll want to sample some of these items if at all possible, also check out the reviews. It's what got me to buy Baxter of California.
Good luck.

Hello all.... remember me, I'm the one who felt compelled to lick the alum block..... I have degraded even further, after reading this, I went and tasted the aloe gel and witch hazel. I have to say that aloe gel has zero taste whatsoever. The witch hazel has a mild taste... aloe has no scent and witch hazel has a slight scent only.... so I would look for something with aloe and alcohol in it...
Sue, who really needs to stop these experiments someday...... :w00t:

If the witch hazel tastes bad, he could use the aloe gel alone...

Oh my, Sue!
If I didn't love you, I might call the loony bin to come get you.
Or wait, I'm suppose to call them because I love you, right? :001_tt2:
