C&E Sandalwood has been my go-to soap for quite some time, but now that it has been discontinued, I'm gonna need another daily shave soap. Any suggestions for another soap that performs as well as or better than C&E Sandalwood that has a similar smell?
Alternatively, I have a puck of Cade that worked well for a while but now that I've worn through the embossed letters on the puck won't lather at all. It barely gives off any suds and is rock hard. Any tips on bringing the lather back?

Why not try C&E Nomad? Or AOS Sandalwood?

My roommate has Nomad. I find it a bit strong. Is AoS okay soap?

I never got a whiff of the C&E Sandalwood and the one whiff I got from the AOS must have been stale because I could barely smell anything at all , granted it was the tester in a well known store. However, not too long ago I was introduced to TOBS Sandalwood and I fell in love with it! Just to let you know I got the cream not the soap, however I'm certain the scent should be similar. I personally believe it has a very manly scent and lathers up very nicely. I kinda regret missing C&E Sandalwood not ever getting to smell it or use it, but I figure I'm happy enough with what I have now and I get along just fine with it. Good luck in your search because there are many sandalwoods out there. Let us know the results when you figure them out. Later!:001_smile

When you soak your brush put about a tablespoon of very hot water on top of the Cade puck. This should help it to soften up and let the brush pick up more soap. I always drain the soap water into my lather bowl.

AOS is a great soap. I think it will fit into your C&E bowl. It is an expensive soap, I think a refill goes for around $24. Its well worth it in my opinion.

As a fan of c+e's sandalwood soap, i can say that the aos sandalwood is a huge step up in quality. HIGHLY recommended.

Argh... I saw at least 2, if not 3 Sandalwood refills at Presenting the Soap Opera at Seneca Center in Morgantown for $10 on Saturday. They sell C&E products, but don't get listed on the C&E site.

I think that their products are one of the best there is. I usually use their cream and I get a really smooth shave.

+1 This is what I do for tougher soaps as well.
The T&H Sandalwood has a good scent (cream) but I haven't tried any Sandalwood soaps.

Still an hour before the local shop opens here. I've got funds for just one refill. Sigh.

AOS is a great recommendation, but be aware it's going to have a stronger (truer) sandalwood scent than the C&E (which always smelled more like oatmeal cookies than sandalwood to my nose!). TOBS sandalwood soap is probably closer in scent to the C&E you're used to. I can't comment on the performance of ToBS soap as I've only used their creams, but the review section should be helpful in that regard. Good luck in your quest.

This is true. AoS' sandalwood is definitely much more true to the scent... C&E is more of a cinnamon to my nose... but BOTH are still really nice, in my book. Given a choice between the two for a daily shaver, I'd likely go wiht the AoS simply for the out-and-out quality. The stuff is amazing.

The place I mentioned above had three refills at $10 each when I got there. Now they have two.

AOS and GFT Sandalwood Soaps are both superior to C&E's offering.

Given my frame of reference to date is Williams, Col Conk, and VDH, I'll take what I can get.

I've mentioned them before - I bought some nice hand-made sandalwood shaving soap pucks from artifactsoapworks. Lots of other scents as well. Lathers nicely once you wet the soap and let it soak a bit, and the price is right - $2.60 for one, $5.25 for 3.

I always get a good lather from my Edwin Jagger soap, so you could try their sandalwood soap. It's pretty cheap as well.

D.R. Harris Marlborough isn't a "true" sandalwood given that it is listed as sandalwood and cedar, but I think sandalwood is the predominant scent. Either way it smells great and is an outstanding performer.

If you like the Sandalwood scent and want an outstanding performance from a soap, may I suggest that you give Trumpers Sandalwood a go...It's a little on the pricey side but it lasts a long time....

Though I haven't tried it yet, I hear D.R. Harris Marlborough is pretty similar, though not exactly like C&E Sandalwood.

How about QED sandalwood? Glycerin based, great scent.

C&E is good, but the others are even better. I think C&E's Sandalwood was my first triple milled soap, and a pretty good one as well. :001_smile

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Looks like there's a bunch of stuff to try. I guess that's the fun part of wet shaving; it's always an adventure.
