Some variables affecting your shave assuming you are using only one razor. A change in any or all of these can cause problems, no wonder we all have such different experiences and ask so many questions!

Room temperature,
room humidity,
face temperature,
skin oiliness,
skin condition,
beard hydration,
blade condition,
blade type,
shaving soap/cream used,
slickness of lather,
temperature of lather,
lather building skill,
water hardness,
water temperature,
brush type,
time of day,
shaving skill level,
previous nick/cuts/spots,
length of time between shaves,
concentration,
distraction,
interruption,
hangover....

feel free to add to the list.

That's why I shave in a humidity-controlled, temperature-controlled anechoic chamber while wearing earplugs and using filtered Himalayan spring water and an immersion blender to make proper lather.
