I'm a huge fan of rose scents and I'm looking for rose scented aftershaves, but I'm looking for something other than Coral Skin Food. Are there any other good ones out there? I'm looking for alcohol based, but balms are fine as well.
Thanks all

Definately the pink. A good cheapie is the Thayer's rose witch hazel. At the high end, there is Hammam Bouquet, which I have yet to try.

Has anybody tried the Hamman Bouquet A/S? I've actually found it cheaper than the Harris Pink.

i am still looking for a suitable rose EDT, i think after trying trumpers rose shaving cream it has sparked my olfactory bulb to love the scent. i have managed to try a few samples of penhaligon's thus far.
personally i don't like the hammam that much. yes you can smell the rose. its not obvious, but definately in there, but the lavander in it makes me feel nauseous.
on the other hand, the elisabethan rose is a pure rose smell which is lovely, but at the end of the day it is meant for women! so it puts me off buying it as i'm not sure if i could live with myself applying it everyday, having said that i would like my house to smell of it. i'm working on getting samples of other scents before i make the leap

Wildman,
Have you tried Floris China Rose and White Rose?
China Rose is a very potent blend of different roses. Should last all day.
White Rose is a formulation of roses and white flowers, so its scent is more subdued.
Rose fragrances are marketed mainly toward women, so you just have to have confidence in yourself when you wear a strong rose fragrance.
If you want a rose fragrance more on the male side, then Hammam Bouquet is your best choice. If you want to venture to the "wildside", try China Rose. It is a heady fragrance.
And don't forget to get the China Rose shower gel and body moisturizer for a layering effect :).
Try the Trumper Rose or Taylor Rose shave cream, some rose witch hazel toner and WoW Rose talc to savor the entire rose experience.
Cheers,
Richard

Hello Wildman in the UK,
Coche_y_bondhu is actually a type of feather obtained from a coche_y_bondhu genetic rooster. Used in fly tying and fly fishing. Below is a pix of a rooster saddle, the area on the bird over the back and rump, versus a cape which comes from the back of the neck and upper shoulder area.

WoW = Woods of Windsor in the UK. They make several talcs. One of them is Wild Rose.
Cheers,

The DR Harris aftershave milk has a slight rose scent also. Most don't care for the new formula, I like it just fine. I never had a chance to try the old for comparison though.

My girlfriend has some Elizabethan Rose, It's a great fragrance and I put it on, and it absolutely reeks with my body chemistry. I think some men can get away with women's fragrances, but many react with our bodies so differently that they turn pungent.
Other good rose colognes out there? I have ordered a sample of Hamman, just waiting for it to get here.

I think i detect a slight rose smell in C&S 88. My nose is terrible for picking out the individual notes so wait for someone else to confirm that. I'll be testing out the hammam sample I got from Pen. tomorrow and will let you know how it is if I remember.

I had asked Charles at QED a couple of things and one of the things he told me was that when he was running a shop his best selling fragrance to men was Penhaligon's Violetta - which is actually a woman's fragrance. He also said the best selling to women was Floris' Elite for Gentlemen aftershave. So, if you like the fragrance, use it.

Charles at QED offers a 4 oz. Rose Geranium aftershave conditioner for $10. Smells just as good as the DR Harris stuff and it's $40 cheaper. The QED aftershave conditioners haven't received the most stellar reviews but I've grown to really like it. It's a lightweight lotion with no greasiness whatsoever. Some of the feedback I've read is that it's too light. For me, personally, I prefer a very light, non-greasy aftershave balm .... the QED stuff seems to be perfect for me. There's no alcohol in this as far as I know. It's good stuff, you should give it a go. For $10 it's a cheap gamble.

I got a sample of that from him and thought it was very nice. Good scent, absorbs into the skin quickly, no heavy greasy feeling... oh, and a little goes a long way. I guess it depends on what you like from an ASB.

A cheaper option would be Bronnleys RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Rose eau fraīche. Marketed for women, but a very nice, fresh rose scent IMO. I've only smelled it from the bottle, so I don't really know how this scent evolves after dry-down or how it reacts with male body chemistry. Bronnley RHS's rose line includes a magnificent bath soap, talcum powder and bath foam. Great stuff.

christo,
I am the definition of burly and have many scars on my face to prove it unfortunately.
Rose is my favorite period. Anyone have a problem with that and I'll meet you in the parking lot to to tussle.
I enjoy pre, cream, and post very much. t&h rose is #1 cream for me so far. Chicago has it in stock, but it is 9$ cheaper to order from gentleman's shop...from London...go figure.
this thread has me considering giving sue a try.

I can only speak for the SCS Savory Rose Cream but it is fantastic. Others rave about her soap with the same scent.
I have only tried Sue's rose scent with C&S No. 88 or her own Savory Rose EDT but both work very well. Make sure you pick up a bottle of the aftershave milk as that is a very effective product.

HoneyBee Sue makes a 'Victorian Rose' scented shave soap that is wonderful; lush, richly frangranced, and a must try if you like rose as a scent. Follow up with Bigelows Triple Rose water, from Bath and Body Works.

The SCS savory rose shaving soap is truly great...not overly complex, just pure, simple rose. Reminds me a lot of the thayer's rose WH scent (which I also love).
