Another ex-lurker [Archive]

So, I've read the tutorials, watched the videos, gathered some gear, and given myself a couple shaves. I'm liking the results so far, so I figured it was time to de-lurk.

My starting gear:

'48-'50 SS (thrift store)
Mama Bear Spicey Lime soap
Derby Extras (first blades I've tried from a West Coast Shaving sample pack)
Fendrihan best badger brush (e-Bay)
$1 ceramic bowl for lathering (thrift store)

I've got 2 other razors that were my father's: a 57 SS and a 61 Fatboy. I'll probably switch to the Fatboy after I get my technique down with the SS. Pics to follow soon.

Looking forward to learning a lot more here.

As promised, pics of the razors. They're all in pretty good shape after a good cleaning. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. The ones from my father are both as shiny as the fatboy. The 48-50 is a little duller and has some brassing (I think that's the term) underneath the head. The fatboy has very little if any paint loss on the numbers. If these pics are too big, I can shrink them down or just change the post to give links.
