View Full Version : Stupid question - What is a shave stick?

Gentlemen & ladies,

What is a shave stick? What is it made of, and how does it differ from the pucks of soap. How does one use it?

The reason I am asking is that the wifely unit saw SCSue's post on shave stick for chicks and asked me about it. I had to admit my ignorance.

Can I please have some enlightenment?

Thanks very much.

Shaving soap in a push up deodorant type container... handy for on the road or brushless... great for underarms and legs too!!

Also this, my first experience with QED's Mocha-Java shaving stick (http://leisureguy.wordpress.com/2006/10/09/morning-shave-superior-coffee-and-chocolate/). It really has provided a superb shave, besides starting the day with a terrific fragrance.

The key seems to be to rub it against the grain of your wet beard all over your beard---every part. Then, since you lather on your face, you also lather pretty vigorously, because you have to develop enough lather (in the brush) for all 3-4 passes.

I've had terrific shaves with it. Highly recommended.

Larry, the much talked about and loved Arko soap is a shaving stick. Very cheap, and good, to boot!

Thanks Jeff. I shall have to order some when I place an Arko order.

oh, Larry, another great shave stick is Erasmic, my current favorite. It's made in the UK, and it also comes in a bowl. This stuff smells so nice, and has a lather to beat the band. It's also very, very cheap. Check out www.auravita.com

Still waiting on my order of Erasmic. If this stuff beats out the Arko stick, I'll be very impressed.

Ceebz, these 2 soaps are as different as day and night. Definitely, Arko's a great soap in its own right, but Erasmic has a much nicer scent, and a better lather.

Any sources in the US for the Erasmic shave stick?

Thomas, Erasmic is my number one favorite right now, that's also why I changed avatars! Mike, I doubt very greatly if there are any US sources for Erasmic---I think it's only sold in the UK.

Hey Larry,
I thought I'd let you know my wife just tried the "Shave Stick for Chicks" and loves it. She said the scent is nice, easy to use and a very close shave. Her legs are very smooth - ahhh she says!
