I picked up a tub of Polar Ice for Christmas but I personally don't seem to find it does any cooling at all. I have Proraso and it cools nicely. Is this typical? Surely its no Polar Ice.

Welcome to B&B!

I got the same results. There's nothing THAT cooling about Polar Ice. When I first got it, I was using Mama Bear's Awakenings at least once a week and a mentholated aftershave nearly every shave. During the winter I haven't been using any menthol products at all and hadn't used the Polar Ice cream in about a month or so. Now when I use it I feel a little cooling, but nothing close to Proraso or MB Awakenings. I still get nothing from the aftershave.

The Polar Ice was a huge disappointment IMO. It smells like some 80's shampoo(Breck? or Jhirmack?) and doesnt cool at all at least I dont feel it. The aftershave doesnt seem to have very little if any menthol. Ice? who knows. I would expect the Polar part to mean minty like the MB Awakenings but know. I do give credit that the SC is very good but I just cant handle the cloying smell. Go with the original. I'm with you....Ice? hmmmmm..... Not to get off subject but i think the entire boosters AS line is fairly worthless. Much better choices out there IMHO. The Iced Lime smells like lime lifesavers or jello?

AFAIK it was designed to smell like the aftershave. I don't even think it has any menthol or cooling ingredients in it.

Maybe it's the lather cooling that I feel and not any menthol :blushing:

Just checked the ingredients and no menthol or mint variant listed. It could be a part of the fragrance though.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I assumed with a name like Polar Ice it would be cooling. I guess not.

You are right, it isn't very cooling. It does give a great shave though and is one of my favorite creams.

I'm not familiar with the Polar Ice after shave, but the Shaving Cream is excellent. The tub is so large, that it's going to last me a long time in rotation with the others, and that makes me happy.
