View Full Version : B&B Beau Monde - Rare.

Gentlemen,
It is with great excitement that I share my current project with you gentlemen - a cologne...... fit for kings, with the exclusivity, scent, and presentation never before experienced.... B&B Beau Monde.

The scent will be 100% pure essential oil based, ZERO and I mean ZERO synthetics of ANY kind. The fragarance will be as follows.... an intoxicating breeze of 100% PURE ROSE OIL (of the FINEST grade, and to my knowledge will be the ONLY cologne on the planet with genuine rose oil, as it is painfully expensive stuff), with a breath of 100% pure Neroli oil, on a light base of 100% pure mysore sandalwood oil, and the finest 100% pure "mint grade" lavander oil.

This will be a VERY, I mean VERY limited run - hopefully availble for x-mas, and will be in either a 1oz size, or a 2oz sized portion - to keep the cost of entry "somewhat sane." There will be between 5 to 15 bottles made available (ideally 10 bottles) all of which will be labeled, dated and serial numbered. The bottles you ask? Well.... EACH bottle of Beau Monde Rare will be in a different antique perfume/cologne bottle that I will begin searching for online, and at antique shows/flea markets etc, and EACH bottle will be hand picked by yours truly.... if it isn't "knock your socks off" cool, it will be discarded, or set aside for another project.... ONLY the best will suffice. Due to the oils being the BEST & rarest of their specific scent, and the fact that as is - those specific oils are so rare, expensive, and exquisite, the quantity that will be produced, and the amount of suitable bottles I can source, will depend on the amount of Beau Monde's offered - however it will be no more than 15.

Bottom line - the rarest/most expensive/most pleasing 100% pure essential oil scents on the planet, in a ONE of a kind bottle.... a bottle of cologne so rare, and so special - to be enjoyed only on the most special occasions, and to never be confused with any other scent/cologne.... on earth..... B&B Beau Monde - Rare.

Pricing will be determined at a later date, and will be different for each bottle - based on the cost of the particular bottle you shall receive.

Bottles can be reserved immediatly, and no payment is required until Beau Monde is ready to be shipped. Moderators, and members of the development team will have first priority - so the sooner you get on the "waiting list" the better, as with something this exclusive.... by the time you read this - it may already be too late - depending on how many bottles of Beau Monde (5-15) end up being offered. It is even a possibility that oils exquisite enough cannot be sourced... and this cologne will never see the light of day.... if it isn't perfection, it will not be Beau Monde.

Gentlemen.... enjoy!

Wow Joel what an awesome project ! great fun aswell !

Im in but I think rather OUT ! looooooooool  I dont think any mod will pass up his bottle. or any one from the develop. team !

your choice of EO is extra ordinair. and rose oil is so $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
it so happends I was talking to the IT network administrator 2 weeks ago ! he suddenly told me he got a fork lift driver license and I asked how so did you get to aquire that ?

Then he told me all about his younger days when he needed a break from college and went working for a year in this weird chemo company. He got some education courses prior to be able to start there and he started talking about everything he was mixing in the factory, offcourse he didnt know then yet im into wetshaving, I told him later and he then understood why it is I could listen to his ongoings for more then 1 hour !!!!!!

What this factory was producing was EO and mixing of basic element for colognes and any factory that needs PURE hardcore or new fragrances!

He was teling me what do you think is in this and that Shampoo and I'd guess the usual ingredient and he then would tell me nope, what happends is for example he gets an assignment to make for example 2 liters of STUFF !!!
he then has to drive around the big warehouse and get so many % of this and that and mixes it up then when its done you got like a 2 liters of fragrance thats worth 100.0000 $ that gets send to a company lets say palmolive and they use that 2 liters to make tons of shampoo heavy dillution that stuf is PURE PURE he would need a long shower after work to get rid of the smell and his clothes would be intoxicated with stuff aswell !

He was then telling me he also made a cannister that would go to Chanel No5 ! to be used to make Chanel No5. same thing lots of ingredients and you drive around the large compound that has stashed away the most weird Oils and stuff you can think about !
When he would be done that cannister would be worth 1 million $.

at one point there was on his mix list an item he needed galle bladder from the big Whale also known as the Balaenoptera musculus brevicauda
you can imagine how rare that is you dont go out and hunt for one .he needed like 0.01% of that stuff for his mix so ignorant as he was he cassual walked with a little can of that stuff and sweeping his arm up and down like it was worth 5 euro.. till a collegeau YELLED at him he was carrying 150.000$ worth of stuff.

he also told me rose almost doesnt have oil by itself.. so it takes like 1000 kilo of leaves to produce 1 tiny drop. you can imagine how much is needed for a bottle !

He also once had to use a Menthol crystal touched it by his hands only but the crystal is so fine it ended up in his blood stream and ended up at the tip of his tongue !

They were selling the chanel No5 in a small Kiosk outside where only factory people could by the Chanel No5 without label and its not 100% chanel no5 the mix will go to Chanel No5 and they add the secret ingredient to it that makes it Chanel No5 $$$$ but it was lets say 98% chanel and most people cant tell the difference unless you are THE NOSE ... offcourse at the factory there they had their Own Nose aswell .

He liked working there they had a research department for most everything and sometimes he would be asked to come over and taste new soda drinks. at one time he had tasted something and liked it and filled out some papers what he liked about it.... later it got known as REDBULL..

Sad to know the factory closed and moved to the UK now. (yes factory had hevy security at the gates you can imagine walking out with 1 liter Rose EO is a nice side earnings !!!!! )

The Japanese are the worst clients he told me if you have like A quality like the Best then the Japanese demand The BEST OF THE BEST higher then A quality adn everything has to be in order to the dot % exactly ! if you for example need to deliver 100ml EO and you deliver 101ml it would get send back thats how they are and stuff $$$$$$$$$$$ did get send back and they would find out who prepared the order for the Japanese very VERY difficult to please them !

I am glad you go Japanese on this project with the Beau Monde project.. I wish you good luck and fun on the way.

Well Rene, thanks for clearing someting up for me. I could never understand why rose absolute was so EXPENSIVE. It's usually in the neighborhood of $375-450 per ounce when yoy buy it from an EO retailer. I always wondered about the price since we go through MILLIONS of tons of roses here in the U.S. each year for anniverseries or whatever. It's the most popular flower around. Now I get it, it's just stingy with the oil! It must be the same with violet absolute. It's even more expensive than the rose I believe.

I received the Beau Monde Rare, sample today... it is beyond description, and words simply fail me. Without hesitation, the finest scent I have ever experienced. Just in the hour or so I have worn it thus far, it has taken me on an awfully wild, complex journey, and EVERY single person that has gotten within smelling distance from me has immediatly asked what I was wearing, and where they could purchase it.

This is not a scent to to adorn if you don't plan on getting into quite a few conversations.....

Outstanding! I'm not even much of a cologne or EDT person, but this sounds very intriguing!
(Edit: I'll hold out for the lavender tho. Still sounds like I'll actually have a shot at that, and since, as I said above, colognes aren't a priority for me, it wouldn't be fair anyway for me to try the Beau Monde.)

Well - I have to find the proper display atomizers (or bottles), the colgone has to be mixed and aged, and so on and so forth. The master perfumery I am dealing with is EXTREMLY small, and they are unbelievable perfectionists... it'll takek a little while (maybe a month or so) but it exists, is fabulous, and will be available in very small quantities. If you remember... I wasn't even sure we would be able to source essential oils up to my satisfaction, so I didn't even know if it would come to fruition - but rest assured, I have found 'em (very small amount) and it will be available for a few of us

Funny this thread popped back up today... as I just got version 2 of it in! Version 1 was amazing don't get me wrong.... arguably the best scent I have ever experienced.... but you know me - I wanted it better. It had a little too much lavender, and I wanted the primary notes to be rose/neroli - and this one REALLY hit the nail on the head PERFECTLY. From the bottle - it smells "ok" put it on, and within minutes you are taken down an incredible path of mysterious neroli, and an unbelievably elegant (and manly) PURE ROSE EO scent. Really, words fail me.... it is truly "liquid paradise."

Maybe I am selfish... but I am going to have to secure myself a few ounces of this stuff prior to the public offering, as it's just beyond amazing.

Now that the formula is to my liking - I am going to find out what this stuff will actually cost   and see when we can secure enough oils to make a batch.

I would pay no attention to the cynical posts about the site becoming too commercial. The kinds of things you have done for the site and the members are dedicated to improving everyone's understanding of the art of shaving and the many associated products. I personally have learned a tremendous abount from your reviews of diverse products. Finally, your collaboration on the recent B&B brush was above and beyond the call of duty. Sooo... lot's of words to say: thank you and please do not be influenced by a few people with negative thinking out there.

Finally, plese consider me for the rose if the price is not to far out there. Is there any thought about sample vial size for members that may not be able to afford a regular size of 1-2 ounces?

Joel:

I've always considered myself a fairly sophisticated gent, and quite knowledgable about grooming and manly style.

Nevertheless, I feel like total bumpkin and a rank Newbie to the sartorial arts as they're being discussed on this forum.

I'm fairly intrigued by the discussion of the various B & B "special formula" colognes.

I've always liked sandalwood, and lavender, however I've never considered rose a "manly" scent. Please forgive my prejudices, but I associate rose scented perfumes with little old ladies...

I'm always willing to consider and experiment with anything once...

I'm curious about the Who, What, When, Where, and How can I obtain any of these custom brewed "B & B" colognes?

Please advise me.

Thanks in advance,

Tony Parker

The subject cologne of this thread is a very limited and probably expensive offering. I doubt you will be able to get any unless Joel ups the quantities to be produced. Rose scent on a man is a very subjective thing and not for everyone. Don't knock it until you've tried it, though.

To purchase, go to the B&B Decant Club/Store link under "More" at the top right corner of this page. You will see a 1oz and 5ml offering of B&B Cologne. This is a VERY classy cologne. Extreme woody sandalwood with a very green note. A little goes a long way. You are paying for top notch ingredients, not advertising or packaging. I would suggest giving the 5ml version a try. It will last quite some time as only a spritz or two is needed. Someone else may chime in on the B&B QEDman 101. I haven't tried it.

Tony Parker

Get your hands on a Scotto Sample of C&S No. 88 or SCS Savory Rose!!! :001_tt1:I got some C&S #88 from Gerald at Basenotes, and I LOVE it, and already bought a bottle of Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet. I eagerly await a B&B rose.

Thanks for the tip, I followed your suggestion and ordered the two 5ml B&B samplers from the B&B Decant Store.... Is it viable & worth it to use an atomizer with the 5 ml sampler, or do you really need to use a 1oz. with the atomizer?

BTW, I noticed some positive feedback on some of the colognes produced by "Sue" of C&S. I might be interested in getting samplers of the "New Spice" and the "Bay Rum with a Twist" I was curious what's the difference between "Eau de Toilette" and cologne?

All the best,

Tony

All the best,

Tony Eau de Toilette" taken from the root word Toilet meaning, "being brewed in a toilet" nope,. that can't be right.

The difference between EdC and EdT has to do with the percentage of oils in the mix. Cologne is lower than Toilette which is lower than Parfum.

Looks like we might be able to get 14 public offerings at 1 ounce each.

Due to the hefty cost, it would probably be best to have them in a plain jane bottle.

Hi Joel - I wondered what the status of this cologne is please. I am keen to enjoy the fruits of your labor in putting this together if I make the cut.

Howdy Guys,

We're moving forward on this, but there isn't any progress to report as of yet. There are still some details to work out, but we'll get there soon enough.

Fascinating. There is a seasoning called beau monde... that people always rave about.... it sounds by the description that the cologne will receive high raves as well.

Homemade Recipe for Beau Monde Seasoning Salt:

1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon ground bay leaf
1 tablespoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons ground pepper
1 tablespoon ground white pepper
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground mace
1 teaspoon celery seed

Did this ever materialize Joel? I hope that I did not miss out on this. If it did die, I would still be interested!

I thought it was the same as available in the Decant Club.

Nope, not the same. The B&B Cologne is from QED. Great scent, but not the Beau Monde.

I know this is old, but since it's a sticky -- any word on the status of this project?

We can do it.... the only issue/problem is that the cost is quite prohibitive. We're talking $180+ per OUNCE!

That is quite a bit. Of course, it depends a bit on the concentration, but it could be worse. For instance, Christopher Brosius's most expensive (in production) perfume (http://www.cbihateperfume.com/CBcradlelight.html) runs you $250 for 15ml (0.5 oz). That's the really concentrated "absolute" version though.

Once I recover from the Zowada, LeGrelot, Robert Williams, Bill Ellis, Livi, buy :w00t: .....I would be interested.
