Gentlemen, I shaved for the first time today with Geo. F. Trumper Coconut Oil Shaving Soap and I can honestly say that I rank it very high on my list of quality lathering agents. Maybe it was the quality of my Tampa water, maybe it was the ability of my Kent BK4 to generate an incredible amount of lather, I think it is most likely the soap itself.
It stands out along with my other two GFT offerings, the Rose, and Violet as pleasing performers. I even used the Sara Bonneyman scuttle and the creamy peaks of warm coconut were just so superb! The scent of the Trumper Coconut Oil SOAP is slightly less pronounced as the same named cream which I have used on numerous occassions as well. The scent of the soap is just right IMO, very sophisticated and gentle and not "Pina Colada-ish". I strongly endorse this as a Luxury offering. Pictured along with Trumper Rose and Violet.

well... I love the cream - I guess I'll have to give the soap a swirl now, won't I???

Mike,
I really enjoy Trumper's Soaps for both their shaving properties and their scents. I haven't tried the Coconut, I have heard others mention that it is excellent as well. The Limes is a favorite of mine in the summer. I have been shaving with the Rose all week and sometimes wonder why I both shaving with anything else.

Clint, the ROSE is truly a favorite as well for me too. I must try the Lime someday.

I too really enjoy the lathering qualities and scents of the Trumpers soaps I own.
I've been meaning to place an order for a couple more of their soaps. Looks like I'll have to ad Coconut to the list.

This makes me feel better since this is the first shaving soap I have ordered... Still waiting on it and my brush to start the DE experience.

I have the cream and it works great, but haven't tried the soap before. If it is less pronounced than the cream, then you'd probably hardly smell it. I don't think the scent on the coconut cream is very strong at all, but it is very good.

Trumper's Coconut Oil soap is absolutely first rate. It consistently gives the most comfortable shaves possible and it is very moisturizing. There are other soaps I like as well, but there are none that I like better.

Very first quality soap I purchased. Great soap. I absolutely love it.
I just acquired the cream. So far I've enjoyed it. I'm glad that you find the soap so spectacular!

Trumper's Coconut in both soap and cream form is superlative.

GFT Coconut Oil SS is by far one of my favorites. I think it gives one of the best lathers out of all my shave soaps, and the moisturizing properties are very impressive... the scent is great, but not as great as GFT Sandalwood SS - which is my favorite... In terms of performance, though, it's the best of the GFT soaps that I've tried...

What are my options for coconut scented soaps besides GFTs?

Honeybee Spa, Susie's Bubbles, and Mama Bear all make coconut soaps.

I am envisioning a superlather made up of GFT coconut soap and GFT coconut cream, the best of both worlds. I may have to place an order just to try this..

Note that Trumper's is not coconut scented, it is soap made from coconut oil. While it has a natural soap scent, I believe it is actually unscented soap.

Thanks Tim, I did NOT realize that so your comment is very helpful!:001_smile
I found Honeybee Spa Coconut Shea butter soap (order is on the way), but I did not see a coconut on Mama Bear's site (although I did order Aged Spice with a wooden bowl)!:001_smile
Did I overlook something on Mama Bear's site or was it discontinued?
TIA

From all the reviews I have read it sounds like the scent is actually similar to dried coconut shavings (like what you cook or put on a cake)

Yes, I'd say that is very close...a very slight coconut scent as you described well.... not however like the deep scent of coconut tanning oil or a pina colada. I think it is sophisticated and nice.

I just went and smelled some shredded coconut and my cake of Trumper's Coconut Oil soap. To me, they are not similar. The shredded coconut (the kind you put on a cake) smells very "coconutty".

You may also want to try The Shave Den Soap. Their store is temporarily closed due to illness but I find their soaps to be excellent. They do make a coconut soap but I have not yet tried that scent.
