Today was my sixth day of returning to shaving with a DE razor after 40 years of multi-blades. It was my best shave yet.

It was my third day of using my 1953 Superspeed. It is a much more forgiving razor than my Parker 22R. I also took more time with lather prep and made by best lather yet.

I went slowly and applied no pressure. My first pass was WTG, the second was XTG and I finished with ATG on my neck. I kept waiting for the weeps that I've been having, but there were none.

One reason for that is probably that my face is healing from the previous use of the Parker with the Merkur blades. That shave was close, but always left some bleeding.

My day is off to a great start!

Sound like you are making good progress. With some time great shaves will be the norm.

Congrats, keep it up! I just used my 1952 Superspeed for the first time today. It's a lot gentler than my HD, I think I have found my new go-to razor:w00t:

Good deal! I've got a '54 SS ('40's style) that I really love. It gets even better!

Thanks, Mantis! Your videos helped me a great deal and should be mandatory viewing for anyone wanting to begin wetshaving.

Yikes! Does this mean he has to be on the lookout for a mate trying to eat him?

You're off to a great start, I've only been doing this DE wetshaving thing since mid October and I better shave every day than I EVER got with a multi bladed razor and canned gel. Mantic's vids and Kyle's prep instructions were the two most helpful things I found as a beginner. Now I just have to watch my spending on the ADs, there's just way too many nice products out there!
