I think Im going there this weekend and it would be nice if I had some general ideas of what to look for there, seeing I've never been there.
Things that would be nice:
- Inexpensive, but soft badger hair brush. Preferably something thats fluffy and soft but still allows me to get a good lather on soap.
- Aftershave Balm. No specifics here, just something that smells nice and doesn't leave me mug all greasy :)
- Shaving cream. I already have some soap but no shaving cream, so I'd really like to try it. If you have a suggestion here, please describe the smell if possible.
Any buying tips from this store would be nice. Thanks

The one thing I like from C&E is their Sandalwood Balm. It has a nice scent and works very well. I use it during the cold weather months (like today -15 with wind chill)...Enjoy!!!

What is the smell of sandalwood like IYO? And please dont name off some wild flower because thats what the usual is lol. Also, do you think its worth the $30?

Try Sandalwood is actually made from the tree oil not the flower but other than that all I can say is give it a smell, they have samplers and yes I do think it’s worth the price.

I also have a sephora where Im going this weekend (partridge creek mall), and Im kind of curious about their products. I have wanted to get lemon AOS for a while and it looks like this store carries AOS creams. The only issue is that the website only sells unscented and sandalwood. Does anyone know if they carry other scents?
thanks

When I went in to C&E last week they said that they were discontinuing a bunch of their men's stuff. Some of it was 50% off. The clerk didn't know if they were going to stop carrying men's items altogether or not. But she didn't sound hopeful that they would continue.
I really like the C&E Nomad soap and balm I have. I also p/u a BBB, because I didn't want to miss my chance. I have to say, that brush really rocks!

I've been in the Sephora store where I live ... I find it kind of creepy to go in there. The salespeople are, uhhhhh, weird. They dress all in Black (with a capital "B") but its hard to tell if they're trying to be Goth, or Emo, or Whatever. In any case, they project a really snobbish attitude, and its hard to get waited on unless you are yourself a Goth, or Emo, or Whatever.
Their Men's Products are pretty upscale. So are the prices. You'll find brands like AOS, Zihr, Anthony Logistics, and so forth. Likewise with the men's colognes ... but I didn't look too closely at them. I've never bought anything from Sephora, nor do I ever intend to.
As for Crabtree and Evelyn, the brush that everybody buys there is the Best Badger Brush by Edwin Jagger. Around here, we call it the BBB, but the Crabtree people refer to it as "Item: 130291." (http://store.crabtree-evelyn.com/acc130291.html) Its best to ask for it by its catalog number at the store, to avoid confusion.
It retails for $35, and it's worth every penny. It's a Helluva brush, one of the standards of reference around here, like the Merkur HD razor. But don't pay full price for it. It goes on sale for $28 about every 6 or 8 weeks.
Don't listen to the rumors that say its been discontinued. It goes out of stock frequently, because its so popular, but it comes back into inventory just as quickly. If you hit a store that's out of stock, get a raincheck, or pay for it on the spot and have them ship it to you.
And don't forget to sign up for Crabtree's Preferred Customer Card. It keeps cumulative track of all your purchase, and when you reach ELITE level ($250) everything from that point on is an additional 10% off.

I was just in a C&E "Outlet" store last week. While the salesperson was very nice and helpful, the prices were a joke. Basically, they were charging the full retail cost of everything.
As far as their products are concerned, I like (not love) their sandalwood and Nomad line. I have the sandalwood soap and the Nomad EDC. I would by the Nomad EDC again. The soap, other than the scent, is forgettable in my opinion.

I'll second the C&E brush. It's a good size and about 35 bucks, great brush.

You can also get the same brush directly from Edwin Jagger (The English Shaving Co.)... see it here (http://www.theenglishshavingcompany.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/9EJ947|1231868229|@c@bEdwin%20Jagger|0|user||215|) .
$25 right now as they are having a 15% off sale just about anything (enter code TE0109).

Their BBB is the bee's knees. I've never tried any of their creams or A/Ss, but I don't like their shaving soaps at all. They're just not slick.

I have an issue with C&E, every few months they close out a product and put it on sale at 75% After reading so many great reviews on the Almond Oil SC I went to a C&E store where they were closing them out at $5 each along with other scents. Even crazier a few weeks ago on their website you were able to get a tubes of either Naturals - Solutions for Men Post-Shave Relief or Naturals face scrub for Men at 75% off. That’s was $8 and $4.50 respectively. (I bought 5 of each). But this is the crazy part, go to their website today and it’s only 50% off and in stores only 20% off. Now this is great for people that get the sale but I will never buy anything from them at regular price. You could have paid $40, $32 $16 or $8 for the post shave relief. 4 different prices for the same thing. Buyer beware.
The Naturals ASB and FS are a steal at the sale price but not worth full price.

+1 about C&E's bizarre pricing structure.
I ordered one of each product in the Naturals line at 75% discount ... I really like them, and I'm kicking myself for not ordering more. My local store currently has them on the shelf for 50% off.
On a side note ... I wish more soap/cream/balm manufacturers would offer their products in an unscented version. I've come to favor these recently, and most of my purchases non-aromafied. No matter how good a product lathers, most times I just want to smell CLEAN, not like Citrus or Rose or Almond or anything.

I'm starting to be suspicious of C&E myself. I relayed earlier that the clerk had implied they may be discontinuing their men's line. Is this a gimmick?

I would not make a purchase from them if it is not on sale. They routinely have a 20% off sale. I usually only consider walking in their stores if I noticed the sale online.
