I was wondering if anyone else enjoys bubble tea. My wife introduced me to it while we were still dating in SoCal. It is basically tea or milk tea with big tapioca balls in the bottom that you suck up with a large straw while drinking the tea. It is a little strange at first, but it is very good. There are also shops that sell the boba in fruit slush drinks. We feel lucky that there is a boba tea shop near us here in Jacksonville.

Bubble tea ... hmmm.
Personally, I think it's part of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

Bubble tea! My favorite flavors are taro and lychee. Some of the less exotic flavors (mango, strawberry, peach) are good, too. I like to drink it with a HOT bowl of pho. It helps balance out the heat.

One of my favorite places for cheap eats.

The bubble teat place is a block south, next to the world's greatest barber shop. Can't make this stuff up.

That's an odd translation! The Chinese reads "Beautifully buried/hidden", which seems rather fitting given that it looks to be underground! How you get "Dick" from buried/hidden, I have no idea. :001_smile
Perhaps worse, "mei" in Chinese means "beautiful", making this, erm, "Beautiful Dick".
You might want to watch what they're clipping in there.

SOTD of the Day: some anonymous shengpu from an old jar in my office. I have no idea what it is, but I wish I did! Notes of lavender with a rich, leafy base make me happy. What is it?!

Yes, it is below grade. Around here, we pronounce the first word as if it were spelled Mai.

You'll have to ask you know who

Too funny. An an aside, what is with the little picture on the My Dick  sign? I enlarged it a bit and it freaked me out.
Hmmm, was I enlarging Mei Dick? :001_rolle

That's a new taste treat that I've certainly never heard of!

I have also had drinks made with Agar. One place in the Chicago chinatown has a really good ice coffee drink with agar...

+1 for Lychee. I've had the frozen lychee slush with boba. I've also had the tea with lychee jelly cut up into little blocks, which is pretty good.

If historical trends continue, soon the next Asian treats to make their way through the nation will be "Asian" frozen yogurt (with lots of uncommon toppings) and cream puffs. Those two things have already grown a strong foothold in the high Asian-concentration areas in the states.

Huge SE Asian population here in Sacramento.
We call it Pearl drink/ with pearls here.
The best is the Thai Tea with pearl.
Best smoothie in town is the Durian smoothie from Lee's Sandwiches.
Has a slight smell of natural gas/propane, and tastes delicious.:w00t:
