I scored a tub of C&E sweet almond for 7.99 at TJ Max.There were 2 so I only took one. I bought it at the Tj Max in Frisco beside Target so if anyone wants to buy in the area it is there also they had a sweet almond shave soap refill for like 3.99. I know a coulple of guys live in this area so get over there and buy it. This stuff shaves great.

The Trafalgar Cream and Cologne package I ordered from Ashford.com arrived today. Funny thing is the the package was sitting on my door step and the "STOP, If this seal or package is damaged check contents before signing" seal was broken when I got home from work. Who was gonna sign it if they were just leaving it at the door??:confused1
Seems like a poor system if the drivers don't follow it. The contents were in good shape when I opened the package, but the T&H box that they came in was a little damaged unfortunately. Can't wait to use the cream though!

I got a bottle of Woods of Windsor "cool" Aftershave Baum for $12(cdn) at Home Sense. I also earlier bought a Gold Dachs Badger hair Brush at the same location for $15. So if you pass Home Sense or Winners go in you might luck out. Unfortunately I bought something called Pecksniffs "Spicy Oriental" Shave gel. This was re-branded body wash, a must avoid:thumbdown

Man you got a better deal than I did at TJ. Have you tied it yet? It is good stuff.
I just bought an YSL Opium deodorant. I was curious to see how it would go with Penhaligon’s LP9 as they are highly similar. Well, that’s perfect.
I was also given a sample of Azzaro’s Chrome edt and I would like to refute a point of view I read on basenotes. Someone stated that Penhaligon’s Quercus and Chrome smelled exactly the same. This guy was high on crack.. Both Quercus and Chrome are fresh, light edt, but the quality of the former is several magnitudes above that of the latter. I distinctly smell Chrome’s notes of bergamot on my clothes, while the woody side is more evident on my skin. After ten minutes, I got sick of it and changed my t-shirt.

That case is a 1949 case (I have the same one). My SS has no date code which puts it as a 1948/1949 as the bar is notched. The F2 date code is curious, for sure. Please post pics when you are able to snag your camera.

Really? Interesting. Perhaps I am misreading it? I'm certainly no expert here.
On the underside of the head on the left It says REG US and below that is a letter F. On the right it says Pat Off and below that is a number 2.
Perhaps that isn't a date code? I admit that I haven't actually ever seen a date code on one in person and just assumed that was what I was looking at.
You mention that the bar is notched on yours. Do mean as in it has tiny serrations along it's top? If so, mine does as well.
It looks identical to this one which is listed as a 1961.

I am using the guide on this site:
http://www.geocities.com/safetyrazors/gil_ser2.htm
(it's on the internet, so it must be true!)
I wasn't really questioning your date code (F2 sounds correct). If so, that puts it at a 1960, second quarter. I don't know how long that made the SSs for, for sure from the late 1940s to the 1950s, but later than that I am not sure. I am also unsure how long they used the red plastic box with the clear lid - I did not think for that long. What "notched" means is that the bar in the middle of the head that the blade fits around is notched on the side or not. The first SSs were not notched - the side of the center bar went straight up and down. The next years they notched the side to match their new blade loading system and cartridges where you feed the blade out of the cartridge, hook it over the bar (the notch assists in this so the blade doesn't pop off the bar) and then pull and the blade is set in the head and can then be twisted closed.
Dennis
Tim: Gordon posted a more lengthy review of the brush over at SMF, and I concur. I have used it 3, 4 times now and it is super soft at the tips, about as soft as a Kent BK8 and every bit as soft as the Shavemacs. It does not splay very much, if at all. About as dense as the Chubby 1, but softer

I use that same site for date codes.
Thank you for explaining about the notch. I understand now. Yes, the bar is in fact notched.
According to the geocities site, 1949 was the first year they used the plastic/clear box but I didn't see any indication as to when they stopped using them. It also indicates that they stopped making the SS around 1974.

Fat Tony,
I used the cream this morning. I thought it was a great shave. The lather was nice thick and creamy. I used my little travel brush but as soon as I get home I will use my good brush to lather up this cream. I really like it so far. Nice scent, no almond scent though which is ok with me.

Scotto posts about the Black Pepper Body Wash in his SOTD (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showpost.php?p=73989&postcount=8) from time to time, and it's always sounded interesting to me, so I decided to go ahead and order some. Unfortunately, I was sent the Body Soother instead. It's a moisturizer, not a body wash.
Merchant details withheld pending resolution of this issue, but I'm a little disappointed at the mixup because I was looking forward to trying the stuff. :frown: Mistakes happen, though.

Ok youse guys...
A little help here from the experts.
I found my Target "scuttle" on Fri and while on an adult break in Temecula CA found this razor.
My ??? What did I get?
I shaved with it last night and was quite satisfied with the results.
Anywho...was my $10 well spent?
Thanks for the research GMP !
