Well this is my first thread to start. Just wondering if anybody out there has a interest in firearms too? Maybe as in collecting, shooting paper targets for fun or competition, hunting, job use, or just reading about them. As mentioned before on another forum and thread, lets please keep the politics out of this. Most or all of us are law abiding citizens and many of us like to shoot and hunt.
I currently own:
Remington 700 7mm Mag Sendero
Robar SR-90 .308 Winchester
Robar SR-90 .300 Remington Ultra Mag
Remington 870 12 guage
Benelli M-1 Super 90 12 guage
Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 guage
Bushmaster AR-15 M4/A3
HK 91 A2
HK USP 40
HK P7M8
Sig 229 .40
Glock 17
Beretta 92 FS
3 Ruger 10/22
I've told friends that I have all the "guns" I need, but I don't have all the "guns" I want.

Totally addicted. Spend all of my spare time competeing in Cowboy Action Shooting, loading ammo for it, or practicing. Spent 25 years working as a Police Firearms Instructor. Started working in gunshops at age 14 and am still doing that.
I've got a couple. I've posted pictures in the past of some - like the Les Baer's and Nighthawks, etc.

Have:
Kimber Custom Classic. .45ACP
Magnum Research Baby Eagle (Jericho) .45ACP
Remington 700 VLS in .308
Winchester Model 12, 12 Gauge. (made in 1925, was my Grandpas)
Knight Wolverine 50 cal blackpowder.
And my Baby.
Ruger 10/22, fully customized. (1500 dollars worth of work to it, and yes, it does shoot worth 1500 bucks)

Had:
North American Arms Guardian .380.
Some asshole stole it out of my car.
Had and sold:
Llama 32 ACP (like a mini 1911) Was crap, sold it for 50 less than I paid
Mossberg .410 pistol grip pump. Fun, but was more a toy, and I got rid of it in trade for the Llama before I did something stupid with it.
Ruger 10/22 in stainless, was the lightweight bench gun I never built.

Lifelong. Due to physical disabilities I don't get out in the field anymore, and I have thinned my arsenal down to a few handguns. A sweet S&W model 17 which I will never part with, a Ruger SP101 snubby that is in the pocket of my robe when I answer my door after dark, and a little Beretta .25 (hey, it's cute!). If I could only have one...I love my old Smith K22.

Here in Britain, that particular avenue of enjoyment was stopped long ago! I'm sure my small non locking pen knife will be taken away next.
The nearest I get is my small collection of air guns and I have to be careful even taking them into my back yard.
I have an Air Arms TX200HC rifle which doesn't come out much these days and a selection of pistols, CO2 and single-stroke pneumatic which get used on paper targets and the odd tin can in the back yard.
Lots of envy heading your way!

I sent more than my fair share of lead downrange. Don't shoot anywhere near as much as I did in my 20s, due to work and family. Still have a Dillon 550B set up for .45 in my shed. It's been begging me to use it again!
Used to compete in Pin matches & PPC using both a Spingfield .45 and a Smith 586. I have a 4" Python in the pipeline, just saving up to afford it. It'll probably be my last handgun, barring another 1911.

I was raised around firearms and shooting sports. Currently I love dove hunting since it is still reasonable priced here in Texas. I love deer hunting but unfortunately rising lease prices have made me put it on hold indefinitly. I love to shoot skeet and sporting clays.
And as mentioned above, I love rimfire. A Ruger 10/22 with a 25 round magazine is about as much fun as a man can have with his clothes on.

Absolutely! Firearms have always been one of my main hobbies, but now it has a rival with wetshaving in my hobby hierarchy.
Although I go to school in Chicago where guns are virtually illegal, I maintain an arsenal back at my permanent home in Texas, where my friends and I do all our shooting.
These are the guns I have:
.357 Magnum S&W Model 27, 6-shot cylinder
M1911 .45 ACP clone (Kimber Custom Target II), 8 round magazines
9mm Beretta 92FS, 15-round magazines
5.56mm Bushmaster AR-15, which I converted into U.S. Army DRM rifle by replacing the handguards, free-floating the barrel, and mounting a Leupold MR/T scope on the upper receiver with A.R.M.S. throw lever rings
My favorite gun to shoot is the S&W revolver on single action. The double action trigger pull is a bit rough, but if you fire it with the hammer manually cocked, it's an instrument of Swiss-like precision.

Picked up 2 AR15 lowers this week, so after the builds, I'll be shooting those. Otherwise, a Ruger 10/22, and a Glock 27.

Thats a shame, In the northeast and NY alone we have literally millions of acres of state land free to hunt on. We have a lot to be grateful for here.

When I saw your list, btheath, I realized how much I miss my HK91! I sold her back in the mid-80's, got almost what I originally paid for it, and now, when I see what they're going for....
I've been having fun with my M1 Garand I got through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. It gets a lot of attention from other shooters when I bring it out to the range. Pretty accurate and reliable!

JP and Jim,
It is actually cheaper to draw an elk or mule deer tag in Colorado and go up there for a week to hunt on BLM land than to have a lease here in Texas for a season. Over 90% of Texas is privately owned. Texas (particularly South Texas) is known for growing large antlers. Ranchers and land owners now have dollars signs in their eyes and are cashing in. Record antlers bring huge dollars here and the landowners know it. I guess I really don't blame them.
So this is what deer hunting has come to here in Texas for the most part. Atrificial insemination for the genetics and 10,000 acre high-fenced ranches. If you have enough money, you can even pre-watch a deer on a DVD that the rancher has made and "purchase" it months before the hunt.
I want to be able to teach my son about hunting and respect for the outdoors but at this rate I may not be able to afford to introduce him to it. Weekend hunts for quality deer can go into the thousands and for a quality seasonal lease, much, much higher.
But as I said in an earlier post, there is bird hunt hunting. Much cheaper and pretty dang fun!
Sorry to get off subject. And to get back on that subject............
I love AR-15s. I own a Rock River Arms and a kit (upper and lower receiver comes from different manufactures) AR-15.

Long time fan of shooting sports. I used to participate in PPC matches. Like most I used to reload my own ammo. I found it very relaxing to sit there and reload couple hundred rounds. Back in those days I had several firearms ranging from lever action to Sniper rifles to Assault rifles, several handguns wheel guns and semi alike. Now I just have a PT 101 .40 cal, a replica 1864 Navy Colt .44 black powder and a Remington Army 1861 replica black powder in .44. I shoot round balls out of both black powder revolvers.

Yes, for a long time it was a passion. I've sold off more than I own now and in fact am selling a nice custom Ruger 45 Colt, built by John Gallagher.
I still have a few browning O/U for birds and a nice Broadway for trap, some handguns, but I sold off all of my Sako rifles, semi-auto shotguns, etc. I received my NRA certificates for handgun and home defense and did a bit of IDPA-type shooting.
Here's a pic of the Ruger that I have for sale. I hate to get rid of it, but I bought directly from John and never fired it. My son and I don't do much deer hunting and this is a great field gun.

Happy New Year to one and all! This is an excellent thread.
Rifles: Prefer nothing smaller than .243 and usually 7MM and larger with 30-06/.308 being favorites because the cases can be used to make many different cartridges. Prefer Dillon presses, LER Scopes, ghost ring aperture sights, stainless steel actions, barrels, and synthetic stocks when feasible. I am left-handed but shoot only right-handed bolt actions. Own various and sundry military and commercial bolt actions, a Savage 99, and military semis.
Shotguns: 12 ga. because of its versatility, pump, autoloaders, double and superposed in about all currently manufactured brands with no real preference.
Handguns: Stainless steel, Ruger and S & W revolvers in .22, .357, and 45ACP when feasible. Pistols: .45 and .22, stainless steel when feasible. Fixed sights on all handguns.
Jeff Cooper is my favorite author on shooting, rifles, and handguns; someone I respect and admire.
Good marksmen and women are made not born but some do have more native ability.

A few times throughout the season, the State Parks open for public hunts. I've never gone so I have no idea how crowded it is, or if they charge. But Dustin is right, there's no such thing as cheap deer down here.

Black Adder, you will pooh a gold brick when I tell you how much I paid for it back in 1987. $450.00 at a local gun show. I will give up any of my others for it. Matter of fact, killed my first deer with it in southwest Texas, Schlacher (may have murdered the name) county.
You may also like this! Being the HK/Colt/Bushmaster armorer, I get to play with all the MP-5, HK-53 and all the M-16 our SWAT team has, with all the ammo I need for the "armorer inspection"! What fun that is.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
Also, if we are thinking of getting a new weapon system, I get to play with them too.

My daughter lives in Texas, not far from Austin. Neither she nor any of her neighbors allow hunting on their land. The deer, never having been hunted, are so fearless they hang around the door to beg for food. Her German Shephard has gotten so used to the deer she doesn't even chase them anymore.
If you have a vegetable garden you have to fence it, otherwise the deer and humans co-exist with no problems.

Currently own between 13-16, depending on if you consider blackpowder to be firearms or not...
Of course I'm too paranoid to list them :001_rolle
However, my favorites are:
Hunting Rifle: Ruger Frontier rifle in .308 w/ Leupold scout IER scope (also, it's my newest acquisition and current favorite toy) This rifle will just about do any kind of hunting you can think up in North America except the larger bears.
Surplus Rifle: My M44(Mosin Nagant carbine...) bought at a gun show for $100 that pegs clays at 100 yards offhand (better than the longer 1891/30 I own)
Handgun: S&W 642 is my preferred carry piece although I do own a Kimber Pro Carry II. However, the slide lock locks back far too often for confidence. I'm awaiting a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Slide Lock (with built in detent) to fix this problem.
Fun Guns: .50 Cal blackpowder handcannon that I bought at a gunshow a few years back. It's really a "pole cannon" as it's mounted and a really stout broom-like handle. It's a blast to shoot.
I also love my Springfield arms M6 scout survival rifle (.22LR/.410). It's an interesting piece as they first stopped making them and then stopped importing them. Mine seems to be a rarity as it is made in Czech Rep but it has Springfield armory stamps on it. Most that were made in Czech have the CZ stamp not the crossed cannons. It must have been made right in the middle of the transition between the two. I paid $150 brand new at a gunstore, check the prices on gunbroker now.... However, I wouldnt sell it because it's just far too damn useful.

I get out to the range about 1 time a month and put about 100 rounds down range with my XD sub compact. I also own an original Colt 1911 that has been reworked a few times but the SN (11XXX) dates it to 1911 or so. I also have a .22 High standard with a 10' barrel and all accessories including the muzzle brake and barrel weights.
For rifles I have a springfield '03A3 Sporter with Iron sights I picked up for $75 at a gun show. I am considering building an AR-15 but have not yet aquired any parts.
I should have a shotgun or two but have not yet gotten around to picking one up. However I feel I really should obtain a HUGE gun safe first. (no sense in buying more than one until I have to)

I don't believe deer and the human race can co-exist peacefully.
LOL!!!! Just Joking! I was thinking about George Dubya's comment on humans and fish co-existing peacefully!
Actually there are numerous reports of deer being very aggressive towards humans, especially in situations where you have a rural subdivision. I don't want a family member of mine being attacked by a rutting buck in the back yard. Sorry, I didn't watch Bambi.

IMO, everyone should own:
S&W .357 pre-lock revolver. 19, 66, 681, or 686 will do.
(later you'll need a version in snubby, 4" and 6")
S&W 642 airweight .38 revolver.
High capacity 9mm; Glock or Sig's are my choice.
(H&K P7M8 and Browning Hi-Powers down the road)
1911 of some sort. I like Springfield, Les Baer and S&W.
12 ga. auto - Benelli, Beretta, Remington, etc.
(Then you can branch out into over and unders, side-by-sides, 11-87 pumps, etc.)
High powered rifle - Remington 270 bolt is my pick.
(Next I'd add a Marlin 336 lever action in 30-30)
.22 rifle - pick one. I'm partial to the old Remington SpeedMaster.

Women are often better shots than men, particularly if they are novices who get proper training from the beginning. Unlike so many men, they have no bad habits to unlearn, and more importantly, no ATTITUDE.

My official duty title in the Air Force is Combat Arms instructor. My duties include gunsmithing and firearms instruction/evaluation. As such one of my hobbies is gunsmithing.
I've built custom 1911's, a couple of sweeeet Remington 700 long range (sniper rifles) from a bare receiver and host of weapons from the AR15/M16 family. I thoroughly enjoy long range competitive shooting.
I own:
-Mossberg 500A Tactical 12 Ga
-Remington 870 Combat Shotgun
-Colt Gold Cup Trophy 1911
-H&K USP .40 LEM
-Springfield (GI model) 1911 that I've highly modified/customized
-Beretta 96 Brigadier (.40 cal) in Stainless Steel
-Savage Firearms Law Enforcement Model Sniper Rifle (.308) with McMillan adjustable stock
-Several AR type rifles in various chamberings, though I am very fond of the 6.8mm
-And as mentioned earlier a couple of Long Range Rifles build on the Remington 700 receiver.
That's just a few of the collection.

I've been known to partake in the hobby of shooting. I used to be very active in our local three gun matches. I would often enter twice to a match so I could compete different classes.
I would run in production with my AR-15, 1911, and Mossberg 500 police tactical, then I'd go back and either break out the M-1, CETME, or Hakim to compete in the heavy metal class. (.308 rifle or bigger, .45 ACP, and 12 GA)
Currently in my collection, I have:
US pattern:
M1911A1 .45
M-1 Garand .30-06
M-1 Carbine .30 Carbine
M-1A 7.62x51
AR-15 5.56x45

I have a hand full of firearms. Don't get to shoot here in Toledo (well actually outside the city LOL) as much as I did when I lived in Alaska, but still try and make noise when I can. I tend to lean towards British firearms due to being of my English Ancestry and I also reenact WWII British Army.
My "collection" includes:
Stevens-Savage Model 15-A .22 Calibre Rifle
Marlin Model-25 .22 calibre rifle
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III Rifle, Birmingham Small Arms, 1940, .303" Calibre
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I* Rifle , Savage, 1942 .303" Calibre
Martini-Henry Mk.II Rifle, Birmingham Small Arms, 1888, .577/.450" Calibre

Anyone go out and shoot sporting clays? Otherwise known as golf with guns or as my brother puts it Redneck Golf. Really fun walking from station to station and taking out the elusive clay pidgeons. helps one keep their skills up when it is not bird season. Looking forward to getting a turkey this spring. I just got a Benelli Nova and am looking forward to trying it out on a few gobblers. When I am shooting sporting clays my old man's Remington 1100 is my shotgun of choice.
I have and old S&W Model 15-2 that I love and I never get tired of shooting.
I had a Mac10 back in the day. Real fun to shoot but man it would go thru the 9mm.
Wondering what will happen with the new president in office. Stock up now while you can kids.

Used to compete in IPSC competitions back when I was in high school in Canada but gun regulations tightened up some time ago, making my little Taurus PT99 all but illegal. Ended up trading it for a nice 12-string acoustic guitar. I now live in Japan where I haven't even seen ANY type of gun in 10 years.

I have a 1942 manufactured SMLE (Short, Magazine, Lee Enfield) No.4 Mk1 with adjustable peep sights.
Beautiful rifle. Groups the size of the palm of your hand at 100m off the bench.
Only downside is that ammo is very expensive $1.50 per round, but still great fun at the range none the less.
Cheers

Back in my College days at the University of Utah I shot collegiate pistol. My event was Free Pistol: 50m range, .22 caliber, one-handed, open sites. It's an Olympic sport also. I used a Russian made TOZ-35 and ended up taking a bronze at collegiate nationals. Those were the days...

I don't have a lot of firearms but do enjoy shooting when I get the chance.
I am considering buying a few more soon, but doubt I have the money as prices have skyrocketed due to the current political powers that be.

I own about a dozen guns of varying types; hand guns, rifle and shotguns. I like to target shoot, train, and trap shoot. Used to hunt a little, but not in years.
I bought this one in late 2004, after the AWB expired. Glad I did, since they're hard to find since the election. Colt LE6920:

That's a stock grip. The picture shown above I found on the Internet http://xavierthoughts.blogspot.com/2007/12/toz-35-range-report.html. For the one I used, I swapped in a Morini grip and customized it to fit my hand.

love the EOTech; the carbine I carried in Iraq is set up similar, but since I like dual redundant sights also (and all we had were detachable "carry handle" style sights) my EOTech is mounted forward (I'm the guy on the left). As you can see from the other guy, not everyone was too concerned about dual redundant sights...the EOTechs are pretty tough I guess. I'm just paranoid, and iron sights don't need batteries. The gun in the middle (folks, this is the "office") doesn't really need sights. Just practice. Shoots like a firehose.

Wish I could afford my own....ahh well.
Thinking about picking up an xD, either .40 or (?) and possibly a rifle, although 5.56 has limited usefulness for me. Either a pistol caliber carbine or something in .308 ball park.

My set up has a flip-up iron rear site (folded down in the pic), as well as fixed front site. So I'm OK if the batteries ever go. Not that I ever expect (hopefully) to be in any real danger, like you were.

I love shooting. Probably the only bigger hobby I have than wetshaving (blasphemy, I know.) I've currently got a SIG P226, a Mosin-Nagant M91/30, a CZ452, a Mossberg 500 (well, technically it was a gift for my dad, but he never takes it out unless we both go shooting), and a DoubleStar AR-15 that I just finished building (now if I could just find some mags.) Not to mention all of the ones that the gun club lets me play with. Other than that, I plan on picking up a couple more handguns, most likely a Ruger MKII and a Kel-Tec PF9. And of course the token 1911 and pre-lock S&W revolver. And let's not forget the other must-have rifles. That MSAR STG556 is just calling my name, not to mention the Chinese Type 86 (.223 AK variant) hanging on my dealer's wall, and that nice M1 Garand just waiting for me to fill out the paperwork at the CMP. Darn it all, I need more money. Do they still pay for blood?

I have several guns and enjoy my time on the range and in the field hunting. I also have my ccw and carry as much as I legally can. I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me get one of these next.

Actually I noticed the sight. I was commenting that my carbine would have been even more similar to yours had my outfit been giving out flip up rear sights. Mine was a compromise. Will probably pick up either a MagPul or GG&G rear sight for the next trip...and watch them out of the corner of my eye so they STAY on my carbine.......
And I'm sure just about any veteran I know would say "you're welcome" although thankfully things are a lot calmer over there than in the past.
Anyone had a chance to shoot the new Kel-Tec bullpup in 7.62 NATO? we had a few guys carrying M14s in my outfit and I might've too, but chose the M4 due to its more compact size in a small space...
still...anyone shot one yet?

Eh, from what I've heard, the 18" isn't all that great. Yeah, it's a .308 bull pup, but it's still on the large side. The 32" on the other hand, looks really promising. I'd really like to see what nearly doubling the barrel length would do to the ballistic trajectory.

I love going outside the city limits to shoot, or to one of the local ranges.
I've only got a few guns now:
Glock 17
Ruger LCP
Mosin Nagant 91/30
Ruger Mark III Competition Model - Slab Side Barrel
I've had .45 and a couple others that I've sold off. I've got enough ammo to last a while, but lately I've been trying to concentrate on having good, cheap(er) fun with the .22 and 91/30 (about $4-5 per 20 rounds).
I'm on the fence about a new .22 rifle. There's always the 10/22 and endless choice of accessories. The Remington 597 also sounds good but you can't do too much to it. Then again, I don't wanna spend $200 on a 10/22 and wind up sinking in another chunk of cash on endless customization.
Any suggestions?

UK based shooter here. Mainly rough shotting for pheasant, duck and geese, but also vermin with .22LR and .17HMR. Full-bore rifle wise my club shoots at Bisley, our rifles range from straight pull ARs (we cant have semis in anything other than rimfire), to target rifles with dioptres, Sako TRG, various remi 700s and an RPA. Currently looking at getting something in 7.62 / .308, possibly a Howa.
Shotgun wise have some nice old stuff including a 1890s French shotgun, a Churchill sbs 20bore, and a double sbs damascus 10 bore.

I punch paper, killed an antelope with my .25/06 last Sept. but am primarily a shot gun shooter having grown up hunting ducks and pheasants in Iowa and Minnesota. This year I plan to do a road trip to SD & IA for pheasants - plan to take a month. I no longer have a dog but who knows what I'll come back with.
I've not gotten on the AR bandwagon but wouldn't mind having one. Ammo is almost 500 a 1000 out here.
