Seeking Info. about Dorko Razors

I wasn't looking but stumbled across this gorgeous seven-day set of Dorko straights on E-Bay:

Can anyone point me to more info. about DORKO? I couldn't tell if they're still in business, thought I saw that DOVO acquired the trademark but I couldn't verify it. I wondered how a set that old could look that good. I traded e-mails with the guy that bought the set - his opinion was that if the set is near as good as it appeared in the pictures he got a steal, and his maximum bid was much higher than what he got them for. Says that similar quality sets go for $920 U.S. I told him that he was lucky I didn't bid, since I probably wouldn't have bid as high as him but would have drove up the price some.

In case you can't tell, I'm a newbie. Just got a Gillette adjustable DE with Feather blades and the Poraso products and have been shaving with it a couple of weeks. Also got the sample set of blades to try, and a Mekur Vision. I'll give the Gillette another month or so to get the knack and then try switching to the Mekur. I fully intend to get a str8 but I'll wait a few months to get a little more knowledge and practice with the DE before I do that. I don't know a lot about the company. However I've had the chance to try a few Dorko's myself and really liked them, I found one recenlty that I polished up and honed and itgave me an amazing shave this morning. I might put it up for sale sometime in the near future. It's a real looker and still in it's original box (that's in prima condition as well.

So if you're thinking about getting a Dorko....it's worth a shot because they're excellent shavers.

Dorko quality is every bit as good as Dovo. In other words, excellent; top shelf.

As I understand it, Dorko is a family brand that was originally used by Heribert Wacker's family. You can still get blades finished by Heribert Wacker on shavingshop.com site. He generally finds old stock blades and finishes them into the product. John Crowley (shavingshop.com) appears to be the sole distributor for these really nice blades.

Paul,
I'd stick with the old classic Dorko's - they look the nicest. As for the quality - well the originals are simply first rate - right up there with Dubl Duck and Puma.... in fact I'd put Dorko among the best of the best - as far as quality and shaving characteristics. I'd take a Dorko over a Dovo ANY day... in my opinion they are on another (higher) level.
