Just a note on if you switch from the Heavy Merkur Futur to the smaller and lighter Merkur HD.
I made the mistake of thinking I needed to apply pressure with the HD because it's smaller and somewhat lighter than the Futur. It's a natural tendency going from heavy to not so heavy. After a couple of days I had quite a bit of razor burn around my neck.
I then corrected my mistake and with no pressure my irritation went away with no hit in quality. YMMV
BTW - the HD is much more maneaverable than the Futur. Both have their good points so they will spend equal time in my rotation.
