I've been reading a lot on this site about the slant razors. Now, i'm relatively new to this lark, and am aware of the slants requiring a good technique...but i was wondering....what advantage would a slant give over a normal razor head....because when i take my time with a 4 pass set up, i can get a full BBS shave.....so what would a slant give me over that??? Are they worth a look or not??

The slant might or might not give you a closer shave with less passes. The 34C is not the most aggressive razor in the Merkur line-up and the slant is certainly more aggressive and, due to it's nature of being a slant, closer in shaving performance. We had a thread before as to why a slant provides a closer shave but i don't think people came to a final conlusion. I guess it's a combination of factors.
However, what you most likely can expect is a closer shave in less passes once you adjusted your technique to the slant since it requires you to re-learn your shaving once again just slightly.

I switch between Merkur HD Open Comb and a 39c.
I do get a closer shave and less irritation with the 39c. However, I have wondered if I use better technique with my 39c because of the "Slant" legends of being so aggressive and dangerous.
That being said, I have never had any cuts or irritation with my 39c. It does happen every now and again with my HD.
I think if you are getting the results you want with what you already have why switch. Unless you just want an excuse for another razor, which is completely understandable. :)
