Well, I never open those magazine scent-advertising thingies, but I came across one for Burberry London the other day. Figuring Burberry Brit is one of those rare department store fragrances that are very nice, I give it a sniff. I was actually pretty impressed. It is sort of a woodsy/spicy thing that might work well for cold weather. Has anyone tried it?

Here are the notes:
Bergamot, Lavender, Cinnamon Leaves, Black Pepper, Mimosa, Leather, Port Wine, Guaiac Wood, Oakmoss, Tobacco, Opopanax.

there was a study done by a graduate student at Cornell University in the 90's.
She laid out samples(unlabeled) with pictures of women...from claudia schiffer to a godzilla look alike. Male students were asked to smell the various scents and pick the best.

Oddly enough the more attractive the model the more highly rated the scent:blush:

I dimly recall that aqua velva was the winner

So you are saying Burberry was one of the ugly girls?

Haven't tried that one. Looking into it though, along with Burberry Brit. I have tried Burberry Weekend, though. Very nice for such a light fragrance. Suitable for summer afternoons.

One resource I use often is:

Good for fragrance composition information as well as reviews.

I got a sample from Basenotes last week and I've worn it twice. So far I like it quite a bit.

Basenotes gives out samples? I wasn't aware! Do you have a link, Tinzien?

Are we talking about the Aftershave or the Cologne ?

I think I have the aftershave at home, one of my favorite to grab def. into my rotation.

Search out a Basenote's user by the name of Scentemantal. In his signature he has a link to his sizable list of decants. I chose Burberry as one of my free samples after buying a few other (larger) samples of things I wanted to try. The fellow is excellent to deal with and I'll continue to use his services in the future.

I bought some for my dad a little while back and I liked it so much I got some for myself. I really like this cologne. I'm honestly not good at putting scent into words so all I can do is vouch that it is very nice and whenever I get many compliments both from women thinking it's great and from men wanting to know what it is so they can get some for themselves.
