I'll start the festivities:

I'd been away from home for so long that I forgot this purchase would be waiting for me. Man that's some good smellin' stuff!

The last time I ordered the jars in for the shaving soaps, I referred to it as my stocking order for jars....

Jim has been giving me a hard time about my 'stocking' order ever since... there for, I placed a stocking order for
him....  here is the link.... http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5907 It is the 'soap' version of L'eggs....

Rene, it was kind of a private joke that got out of control..... ;-)

I just received a couple of items I picked up on eBay. This is gold Fat Boy (D3) and a small ceramic pot intended for soaking / sterilizing safety razors. I think this will look nice on top of my new shaving supplies cabinet (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5983).

If all of my purchases on ebay and elsewhere shipped on time, this should be a very good week indeed. I will be receiving:

1940s Super Speed
1960 Fat Boy
6-pack tubes of Erasmic lather
Tabac shaving soap
Tabac aftershave

Can't wait to get home and find out what's shown up!

Goodies from Mama Bear. Both smell great, but the Green Irish Tweed is pretty amazing. I have to agree with her description: it smells very fresh and clean. Can't wait to try it out on my unsuspecting girlfriend.

The gold Aristocrat I scored on Ebay. Just got here today. The superspeed was my Mom's, believe it or not. Guess she liked it better than the ladies's models!

Scorpio: That SR-208 is awesome. I want one like that.

For the last couple of months, since I started DE shaving, I´ve been checking garage and estates sales looking for old razors and have found nada.

Sunday I was in a flea market in Pattonsburg, Missouri and found an old Gillette for $2.50. Apparently it´s a Superspeed, the 40´s style, judging by the photos here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6570).

The date code of B would make it a 1956 model. I like that, since that´s the year I was born.

Tonight I soaked it in boiling water and vinegar and scrubbed with an old toothbrush for grunge removal. It´s in the dishwasher at the moment on the ¨antibacterial rinse¨ cycle. Tomorrow morning it goes to work.

An old song comes to mind:
Acquisition disease strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you always want to shave
Step out of line, the mods come and take you away ...

Last week (while I was out of town):

1965 Tech razor (K1) in nearly mint condition from eBay. Total cost, including shipping, was just a little more than ten times the price on the box. Time to boil it up and give it a run tomorrow.

Today:

Kiwis. Not quite ripe yet, so I figured I'd use one for a still-life. And...

Moss scuttle -- my contest prize -- courtesy of Sara Bonnyman's generosity and the wonderful mods here at B&B!! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! I'll post my impressions after I've had a chance to use it a few times, but it's a really nice piece of work.

Hello All,

Some more injectors this week. Lady Eversharps with the HydroMagic handle.

I love the long handles and the ease of cleaning of this particular model.

I have found a convenient method of storing these injectors. The Container Store has these razor suction cup holders. They work great.

I just received a mixed lot of used razors/blades that I bought on e-bay. I bought the lot because there were a couple of Shick adjustable injectors that seemed to be in good condition. I knew there were a couple of other injectors and blades, so I figured what the heck, as I am a big injector fan.

All I can say it that this was the haul of a lifetime!

I may post pics later, but here is a list of what I got:

2 BRAND NEW adjustable injectors - with dummy blade installed (pre blade guard models).

4 BRAND NEW lady inectors with the hydro lever that makes cleaning easy

1 of the funky razors that has a disposable head that looks like a DE, but has two blades per side - still in package.

The new razors show some minor wear/dust from being in the drawer, but should clean up nicely.

1 used adjustable injector in good shape (pre-blade guard model)

1 used persona injector in good shape

1 used trac II handle in good shape

3 of the funky Schick band razors - you know, the type with the replaceable head with the blade that's in a band that you use the lever on the front to twist to move new blade off of the reel into the head (sort of the same idea as the old cotton towel rolls that you used to find in the bathroom).

In addition, the package contained the following blades:

100 + Shick injector blades
50 + Trac II blades
10 replacement heads for the band razors

Not sure if the blades are any good, given that the

All in all, I'm thrilled with the lot.

There are simply more razors here than I could ever use and I will sharing the wealth by putting some of them up on the block over the next week or two after I've had a chance to clean them up and take pictures. Given that I got a pretty good price for the lot, I'll keep the prices reasonable - none of that $100 stuff.

In addition, I received the NIB Golden 500 I bought on e-bay and the following from Charles at QED:

B&B Shave Stick
Baxter's ASB
Alum block in case
QED After Shave Conditioner.

Not bad for a Monday morning!

1. A Simpson's Chubby 2 in Super that I purchased from Steve. (I am using this beauty in the morning!) :thumbup1:

3. An eBay purchase of a shaving scuttle and an old Rooney brush. I will be posting more detailed of the Rooney as soon as I clean it up a bit: perhaps someone can help me identify the model.

A trip to Jermyn Street! I am sooo envious.

I used to live in London and the occasionally self-indulgent walk down Jermyn St. was always something I thoroughly enjoyed. Shaving, shirts, shoes: it is a cornucopia of men's supplies. It has been about 4 years since I was last there, but I can't wait to return.

Thanks Jeff. There are so many folks on B&B that are Arko fans that I am very anxious to try this. Sadly, I hacked-up my face a bit this morning (perhaps too many days on the same blade + using the Vision set too aggressively) that I think I'll have to pass on shaving tomorrow just to let my face recuperate a bit. :frown: So, it'll have to wait until Sunday for my first Arko experience.

I went back to Target today and bought spares of Proraso shave cream, pre-shave cream, and liquid cream after-shave, just in case they decide not to re-stock it.

When I checked out, the lady at the cash register commented, "We sure sell a lot of this. I had never heard of it, before." I told her that I really like it, that Target is the only place I can find it, and that I hope they keep carrying it. I doubt that my comments will get back to anyone that matters, though.

I got an old razor, today. I asked my father-in-law if he had an old safety razor he didn't use anymore and when he said he did, I offerred to buy it from him. He brought out two and said I could take my pick, but he wouldn't accept any money.

The one I did not select was a Gillette with the opening doors at the top. The nub at the end of the handle was blue. That's about all I can say to describe it. He said he got it a little after the Korean War.

The other one, which I selected, was an older open comb Gillette, mostly brass in color but the top plate is more of a copper color. It is in a black bakelite case with the single word "Star" on it. The piece with the comb says "Gillette" and there are some patent numbers, but I don't see anything resembling (to me) a model number. It seems to be in very good condition and I may shave with it.

He said it was owned by an uncle of his and he believes it dates to World War II or earlier. Does anyone have ideas about what model razor it is?

I want to make and post some pictures of it, but my digital camera's battery does not seem to be charging up. It may be dead after months of non-use.

Mama Bear's Rosemary Mint and Lavender soaps, and an alum block. Thanks, MB!

Thanks. This razor is apparently from the no-serial-number and no-date-codes era, so it was hard to tell anything from that info. But I appreciate the tip.

Here is one pic of the razor I got, yesterday. I took several, but I must be very rusty - none of the others were any good.
