You're not going to believe this, but off the top of my head:
Folding luggage dolly
Mangled road atlas
Warped tennis racket and 2 balls (loose)
A Downy ball, leftover from driving to the laundromat. Its been there forever.
A cheap "roadside emergency kit" which is in all likelihood useless
A mullet wig and a trucker cap from a 3-year old halloween costume
A case of Great Lakes Christmas Ale (recent)
A duct-taped styrofoam cooler
3 Barack Obama posters, unintentionally yet unavoidably creased
Several loose screws from a repair job I did on my CD changer. Packet spilled and I never bothered to find all of them.
A 3-wood, purchased at a garage sale for $5, used once
A red scarf (mine)
Various scrapers/brushes

You should see my daughters trunk. I couldn't even begin to list the endless miles of crap she has in that thing. I did see lots of paper and candy wrappers though.

I just had to go look and see......
I've got an MDX, so it's a covered hatch instead of a trunk per se, but it's current contents include:
a first aid kit
a small fire extinguisher
4 coat hangers
some dry cleaning plastic
a broken umbrella
one of my daughter's dolls
some of my son's army men
some crayons
and a bag of assorted crap designated for Goodwill
I really need clean some of that junk out!
Confuzius
11-14-2008, 01:05 PM
4 folding camping chairs
2 boxes of stuff (games, cards, etc) that won't fit in my appartment, but I don't want to part with yet.
1 huge box of kitty litter, bought while on sale, but no place in appartment for it.
Various auto-repair detruis, screw clamps and exhaust patching kits.
Junk mostly.

It's a hatch so not really a boot. I've got a bunch of magazines, one cooler (lunch box size), a pair of PJ pants and the game Fact or Crap. It's a mess and makes me cringe every time I look. Fortunately it will be taken care of this weekend. Just random stuff I grabbed last time I was in my old apartment.

Believe it or not, I have absolutely nowt in the boot of my car. I hate carrying junk around. I do have underfloor hatches in the back seat foot well and I have an extending wheel brace in one.
Mind you I do have a cat litter tray and half a bag of litter on the back seat that's been there almost a month since I picked my moggy up from my daughter who'd been looking after her while I was away!

Just a few boxes I still haven't unpacked from the move and my wife's fur coat. I should probably put the coat in storage.
I don't really have a trunk in my vehicle, although it does have drawers and a closet. It's a van converted into a motorhome. There's "everything" in there, including the kitchen sink!
I just saw that someone was declared the winner. No way. I essentially carry a traveling household around, with lots of extras.

Ah, good topic. Like others have said I hate a bunch of loose crap in my car, but I do carry a few things.
my 1993 400E:
>tool bag(not worried about the car, but I'm always fixing something for someone)
>roll of paper towels(never can trust the gas station to have them, and I ALWAYS check my oil when I re-fuel)
>owner's manuals in their handy little zippered leather case
>broken ice scraper(need to replace soon)
>leather wipes
>glass wipes
>under the trunk floor:
>>full size spare on matching wheel
>>spare headlight bulb, brake light bulb, marker light bulb, jumper cables(inside spare wheel in handy plastic basket)
I know it sounds like a lot, but it's neatly arranged in the little recessed area in the left fender well and doesn't move around.
Wife's 2004 ML430:
>middle rear headrest(she's vertically challenged and can't see over it when it's installed)
>umbrella
>cooler for frozen items when she does the grocery shopping
>ice scraper
>first aid kit
son's 1999 C230:
God only knows, he's 17 and it scares me to think of what may be in there!
To his credit, I'm sure it's not too bad as he knows that his car is subject to random thorough parental inspection.

Actually, that's what it came with. Beyond that - you're not fitting much else up there.
When I'm loaded down with stuff for work (tool bag, laptop, etc) - it usually goes in place of a passenger.

Now that I think about it, you'd have to be able to put a full size wheel up there or you'd not be able to store a flat if you needed to mount the spare.

Jack Handle,
Camping Chair in a bag,
1/3 bottle Windhshield wiper fluid,
1/4 bottle motor oil.
Two empty plastic grocery bags.
I use to have a lot more stuff in my boot (trunk). But I had to replace my car battery. I forgot abut the old battery in the trunk. After a while the battery fell on it's side. Spilling the nastiy stuff on all my cool stuff.
This spring I will be buying fishing gear to keep in the trunk!
Also my car is finally getting so old that I will have to buy a car tool kit for it! As in wrenches, screw drivers, duct tape, hosing, V belts the basics.
