Let's see the goodies for the week!

These aren't "finds" per se, but I'm excited! I've gone crazy on the acquisitions. The only other thing I lack is a replenishment on my blades. Will decide on that once I get accustomed to the slant.

Merkur HD Slant, from BST forum
AOS Lavender, Lemon cream (already own Sandalwood)
Cremo cream
Musgo Real cream
HBS Sandalwood Vanilla, Jasmine, Old spice

Hey joelmole!
I got Mitchell's wool fat soap today too!

Also bought a neat container for it to reside in from "Tesco".

Looking forward to using the soap after all the great reviews I've seen :biggrin1:

I ordered it today, so unfortunately I have a bit of waiting. Half of the stuff I listed above was from a prior order, so I have several soaps and creams to keep me busy. My biggest anticipation is for MWF and TOBS Rose.

After much searching, I finally located a pre-Vulfix Chubby 1 in best - at the other side of the globe in an Australian online store! (http://remogeneralstore.com/pages/default.cfm) Is it a shedder? I don't know yet. But if it is, I feel very confident that Vulfix will help me with a replacement. For those of you with similar tastes, at last look, the store still had 3 of these left, though they have very recently taken a new stock of Simpfixes, so you'll have to specify that you want one of the originals. My thanks again to TSWebster, who coordinated the shipping on this one.
Here are some photos. Note the lampblacked store stamp on the reverse.

Finally got around to picking up a Krona after passing on several over the last year or so. In my ignorance, I thought they were plastic but this one is all metal. It cleaned up pretty nice. Is it normal for this razor to come completely apart as pictured, or has this one been damaged? It appears to lock down OK regardless. I also would like to know what the significance of the numbers and letters are on the bottom (3 2 6 M) if anybody knows.

Supposedly some kind of date code, but no one has seemed to crack it yet. All 3 of my Kronas have different numbers.

The black part is metal? On mine it has always been plastic. Enjoy the shaves, they are really quite pleasant. Wish I could help you on the numbers!

I was in the local mall here at lunch - looking for Mennen Cool Spice AS, when I took a chance in a new bargain store (not a dollar store, I guess they buy up stock from failed businesses etc.) and there it was... in all its flat red carboard box and milky glass glory:

an entire shelf of old stock Old Spice!

I bougth two bottles!

Its not the ship logo on the bottle, but the newer logo.... a good thing that SWMBO told me that she actually likes it (in small doses)...

I'm set for life.... well, maybe.

Fortunately I'm not afflicted with RAD, though my SCAD is out of control. In an effort to head off my newly developing SBAD, I picked up a Rooney Heritage Emillion in Super Badger from Vintage Blades LLC (http://www.vintagebladesllc.com). All I can say is WOW! Completely different from my other brushes - pleasantly stiff (which is how I like 'em) but oh so soft on the face. I was shocked how much water this baby sucks up, and holds enough lather for 4 passes without recharging. I think SBAD has been satisfied (at least for now).

With Trumper's Rose this morning.... very nice. Going to try it with Mitchell's Wool Fat soon.... The BK4 was pretty much as I had recalled... a very nice brush for the money.

I just got my new Rooney Style 2 size 1 super badger brush yesterday from Jim at vintage blades. He is a great resource and the customer service is superb. I received the product quickly and it is fantastic. I used some Castle Forbes lime as my first go around. The Brush is very soft and supple on the tips but has plenty of backbone for hard creams and soaps. It holds a lot of water, it is extremely dense and lathers well. It is just the right size, not too big that you cant put cream on your upper lip, but just right size for slathering the thick rich lather all over your face as you massage it into your beard. This is my favorite new brush. I have attached pictures below to those interested. Travis

Lets see, no pictures yet, since half isn't in yet.

The rundown:
Tabac in the ceramic bowl
Proraso Pre/Post
2 Bigelow/Proraso SC tubes (Bogo coupon from Bath and Body)
Pinaud talc
Caswell Massey Lime AS
Panasonic travel battery razor (for the times when I'm out in the field with no running water and no plug to charge the Braun that was my daily before this addiction started)

Yes they are after it bloomed. I can't believe how dense a brush it is. I was comparing it to some of my others with a 22mm knot and there just is no comparison. My Col. Conks/Vulvix look like they haven't bloomed when sitting next to the Rooney. Travis

Went with the family to Ohio today (we are from Western, PA). It was 1 1/2 hours drive each way. Beautiful day for a drive...we got to see tons of country along the way. The kids were happy and gas was $1.89 a gallon. Life was great today, it got even better after my wife told me about our surprise destination. We went to a HUGE antique mall in Ravenna,OH. I believe the place was called AAA I76 Antique Mall. We got there with only 90 minutes to go until closing. I scoured the aisles with my ten year old son and I truly expected to find a ton of antique de goodness. Turns out that even though the place was big and loaded with tons of vendors...my wonderful son found the only de in the mall but man was it worth it. I got this red tip ss for $15. I was glad to pay the money for this razor. I soaked this sucker in barbecide the minute I walked in the door for about 15 minutes and then proceeded to use the maas to polish it up. Total time for cleaning/polishing 30 minutes. I can't wait to use this razor tomorrow and beyond! Here are some shots I'd like to share with you.

I was at the barber shop with my son this morning and I was just shooting the breeze with his barber. I asked him where he got all his supplies from, (whether he ordered them or bought them in town.) I told him I liked the after shaves they used there and would like to know where I could buy some. On the way out the door after paying for my sons haircut (he is 12) he handed me a brand new bottle of Bay Rum After Shave. It's great to find a barbershop that you enjoy coming to and talking to the guys with. Ive been going there for the last 12 years and all 3 guys have been there at least 20. Travis

I won it on eBay. There is a merchant selling those with different handles for about 50€ a piece. He puts up one of each type for auction every day (I think as a promo) and I got mine for 18€.
